Please read the UCM Manual with the new section on Vocabulary Upgrading before attempting to upgrade the vocabulary on Comfort.
You can corrupt the voice on Comfort if this is not done carefullyPlease note that the Vocab upgrade erases all recorded messages eg Reminders, Alarm Voice messages, names, greeting messages, so they need to be re-recorded aftyer taht see http://www.comfortforums.com/forum76/2016.html

Before starting it is recommended to disconnect all slaves,  and  RIOs (This may not be needed with the latest Comfort and SEM firmware installed)

If using UCM/ETH03, you should upgrade the ETH03 Firmware to 2.23UCM/ETH02 cannot be used to upgrade vocabulary

Use Comfigurator 3.9.x or later, go to Transfer Menu > Vocab Upgrade...

There is a message "Do Not continue unless advised by Cytech ... etc"
Press OK

Comfigurator will select  vocab files  in Comfiguratorconfig folder

The vocab files are supplied with Comfigurator 3.9 and above

The english vocab file is myma37.bin
then and select the unzipped mymaxx.bin file which
This starts the Vocabulary upgrade process which takes about 20+ minutes

Do not interrupt the transfer. If there is any error, repeat the procedure

There are 3 parts to the process
  1. Vocabulary Upgrade - This takes the longest time, about 15 minutes. There will be keypad beeping at certain times and the process may seem to halt at other times
  2. Sentence upgrade - This follows automatically after vocab upgrade and takes about 5 minutes. If the Sentence upgrade fails, you can repeat just the sentence upgrade without the full Vocab upgrade. Go to Transfer >  Sentence Table Upgrade and select the same bin file as the full upgrade.
  3. Keypad Text Upgrade - This transfers the text data to the LCD Keypads KP04 KP05, KP06 and follows automatically after Sentence Upgrade

During the process there will be beeping on the keypads at certain times and the transfer process may seem to halt for a while. This is completely normal. Do not interrupt unless nothing has happened for at least 20 minutes

If there is a failure during sentence upgrade part of the Vocabulary upgrade as shown below, just repeat the sentence upgrade only (Transfer > Sentence Table Upgrade and select the same bin file)

Please note the Vocabulary Upgrading will erase all Messages, Greeting message, recorded Names, Reminder Messages, and Alarm Voice messages on Comfort.

Various language files can also be downoaded from http://www.cytech.biz/vocabulary.html

Some customers have reported problems with Vocabulary upgrade with Comfort II not being able to complete, resulting in Comfort without voice.

We have found that the presence of Slave in the network may cause this error.

If this problem occurs, Before doing a vocabulary upgrade please disconnect all Slaves by unplugging the KA/KB terminal block from the Slave.

The keypad KA/KB can also be disconnected during the vocabulary upgrade

We are investigating the root cause of this phenomenon. In the meantime please use this workaround when doing a Vocab Upgrade.
Update - Please upgrade slaves to min 7.040 (or higher)

I think I need to do a vocab upgrade as I see a lot more words available in the kate and myma files than my system currently allows. According to "System Information" I have Vocabulary no. 5, system vocab version 25.

Are the upgrade instructions above still valid for today (with Comfort II Ultra firmware 7.040, three slaves, three KP04s) or have the issues requiring disconnection of the slaves been resolved? I would prefer not to have to try and operate with slaves disconnected.

Does it matter whether I select Kate or Myma to do the vocab upgrade?

Yes the instructions are valid
You should  upgrade the Comfort firmware to 7.040 before attempting the upgrade
The Vocab upgrade may take more than 20 minutes
Sometimes there may be errors during the Vocab upgrade, especially by ethernet due to lost connections. if so then repeat the upgrade process

Kate and Myma are 2 different female voices
Kate has a more firm and commanding voice while Myma has a more gentle and soft voice.

Thanks Ident.

1) Just to be sure, do you mean that, even with 7.040, I should disconnect the slaves?

2) How do I know if I have Kate or Myma at the moment? I purchased Ultra II in November 2006. Its on Vocabulary no. 5, system vocab version 25.

Thanks

You should not have to disconnect Slaves

You should have Myma

Also if you are upgrading from Vocabulary version 34, 35, or 36 to 37, you do not need to upgrade the Vocabulary, just do a Sentence Upgrade.

If you are upgrading from an older version than 34, you need to do a full Vocabulary Upgrade

Hi,

I am having issues with loss of sound.
I have a Comfort II Ultra. Firmware 7.117.
I have Zwave3 and had added a node and amended another. I also made a minor change to a response. All seemed OK so I did a save from Comfigurator and then uploaded from PC to Comfort.
After the upload I noticed that I got the beep but no 'Security Off' as it usually announces.
A peek at a keypad showed press "* and 1" together. I tried that but nothing happened.
I then found this thread so tried a vocab update but get a failed message. I also tried a Sentence upgrade but that hasn't helped either.
I have tried a vocab upgrade several more times with no success.
The system properties tell me the Vocab name is 'English Residential, Custom vocabulary is false Version is 39.
Can you suggest what I try next?

This problem is shown here http://www.comfortforums.com/view_topic.php?id=4698&forum_id=76&jump_to=22128#p22128

Note the reply < NA above indicates that the problem is with the ETH03 firmware 2.20

Upgrade the ETH03 firmware to the latest 2.23

if you still have the old UCM01, there may be other issues

Thank you very much - that has sorted it out and Comfort has regained her voice.
