This topic is for the new Comfigurator 3.0.1. It fixes all the bugs in 3.0.0 listed in http://www.comfortforums.com/view_topic.php?id=1389&forum_id=20 including the wrong FS34 template

Comfigurator 3 replaces Comfigurator 2. The new software is based on the .NET platform, and represents a major improvement to the user interface and functionality.
Both Comfigurator 2 and 3 can coexist in the same PC. Conversion between Comfigurator 2 and 3 is possible. Comfigurator 3.0.1 can be downloaded from Comfigurator 3 Link

Please make sure that you have .NET Framework 2.0 SP2. There is a  known problem caused by a Microsoft bug introduced in the .NET Framework 2.0 SP1. It's supposed to be fixed in SP2 which can be downloaded from  here
Please check that the download page says
Microsoft .NET Framework Version 2.0 Service Pack 2 Redistributable Package (x86)and NOT Compact Framework Version 2.0.  If you have installed the Compact version by mistake please uninstall it and install the

Please feedback and post any bugs found in this forum Latest - Please read important information about .NET Frameworks in the next reply immediately below

A training slide on Comfigurator 3 programming is available for download from our website
Comfigurator 3.0.1 Known Issues
  1. After installation in some PCs, there is an exception which prevents the program from running If you have this exception please downloaad .NET Framework 2.0 SP2  using the link mentioned above
  2. Conversion of file from .ccl to .cclx with Concatenate CBus checked will in the field being unchecked
  3. In Sunrise/Sunset Times, any changes in the Location or country/city are not written to Comfort in Selective Write when Sunrise/Sunset Times checkbox is selected. A full Write must be selected
  4. In Sunrise/Sunset Times, if the Location/Country/City is not selected and there is a full Write to Comfort, Daylight savings offset of 60 minutes is written to Comfort. To prevent this, always select a Location or City
  5. When writing File System 31 (Comfort II OPT), every zone is automatically announced when opened. Those who do not want this "feature" please revert to Comfigurator 2.2.3 for the time being
  6. Note that CMS Dial Test Action 11 has no function
  7. In Dynalite Actions, the Preset number increments each time the Response is saved
  8. "Use Configuration Connection" Settings is not working correctly
  9. Dynalite Recall Preset Action causes exception
  10. When a second instance of Comfigurator is opened while a first instance has not been saved, the message saying "the (1st file) has been recovered" This means that the contents of the first file being worked on was recovered
  11. In Security > CMS, if the Account Code is less than 6 digits, the leading digits 00 are added. eg 4567 becomes 004567. Change using the keypad Engineer Menu 4 for Phone Numbers, select Phone 1 or 2 , 1 for Type CMS, 1 for Monitoring Station Code and enter the account code and # key, eg 4567#. This bug was from Comfigurator 2
  12. IR Receive Responses - if assigned to NULL, will call Response 255 if the IR signal is received. To workaround, do not use Response Number 255
Comfigurator 3.1.0 is now available, see http://www.comfortforums.com/forum20/1554.html

Important Note regarding .NET Frameworks- Read this if you get an exception while installing or Running Comfigurator If you do not have the latest updates or Service Packs for the .NET Framework you may get an exception when you install or run Comfigurator 3, or Comfigurator may run but may be very slow and cause exceptions If you have .NET Framework 2.0 without any service packs
Please make sure you the .NET Framework 2.0 SP2, NOT the .NET Compact Framework SP2 which is meant for handhelds
.NET Frameworks 3.0 and 3.5 are not needed for Comfigurator 3.0.1 but it does no harm to have them installed

How to determine which versions of the .NET framework you have? The simplest way is to go to Add/Remove Programs in Control Panel This article at http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/kb/kb00318785.aspx also tells you how to determine what versions are installed and which are available The free software  .NET Detector http://www.asoft.be/prod_netver.html is a handy tool that shows which .NET versions are available and which are installed and more importantly a link to download the new update

Note that a new issue affecting Comfort II Optimum (File System 31) has been discovered; All zones are announced when opened. This does not affect Ultra II systems. Those who do not want this, please use Comfigurator 2.2.3 for the time being

Comfigurator 3.0.1 is really a fantastic improvement. Most of my gripes with the old software appear to have been resolved.

A couple of small nice-to-have's for the future (not criticisms, just feedback to try to help improve the software!):

1. On the Security -> Zones/Inputs screen, if you turn on Show Status, and then turn it off again, the screen keeps on flashing as if its redoing the Status column on every zone change, but the Status column is no longer displayed. The same happens on the Events -> Zones/Inputs screen even though there's no Status column.

2. On the Security -> Zones/Inputs screen, if you turn on Show Status, and then scroll down, then, every time the screen refreshes, it goes back to showing zone 1 to whatever the screen can show. So if you're watching, say zone 60, this is quite annoying as you have to keep scrolling down. The same happens on the Events -> Zones/Inputs screen even though there's no Status column.

3. In Reponses, the mouse wheel does not scroll inside the Edit Response Manually window - you have to use the keyboard. Also, the part of the window containing the code cannot be resized. If resizing were possible, it would also be nice the save the window size on close.

4. In Responses -> Response Wizard, it would be nice to be able to save the window size as well as the column sizes and the sizes of the different sections. Also, when a new action is inserted after having scrolled down, the window is re-displayed from the beginning, forcing you to scroll down to the position you were working at.

5. In Schedule -> Sunrise/Sunset Times, it would be nice to show the selected city/latitude/longitude, as well as the current week.

6. It would be neat to allow all screens (Counters, Flags, Outputs, Timers, Reminders, etc.) to be sorted alphabetically, and to save the sorting setting.

Keep up the good work!

Please note that in the first post in this topic, I linked wrongly to the  .NET Compact Framework 2.0 SP2. This will cause Comfigurator to show an exception when you launch it. The correct version to upgrade to is the .NET Framework 2.0 Service Pack 2(ie the difference is without the "Compact" The link has already been updated and is again given here
I have had 4 to 5 goes at getting this right, but somehow the wrong link gets in so please check that the Microsoft download site says
Microsoft .NET Framework 2.0 Service Pack 2
There should not be COMPACT anywhere

If you have installed the .NET Compact Framework 2.0 SP2 by mistake, please uninstall it and install the one from the above link

Hi

Looking at the download site I see conflicting information (see image below):

* Screenshot is for 3.0.2
* Uploaded today (so why re-upload today if it's still current 3.0.1 version)
* Link is for 3.0.1

What version is meant to be here?

Julian

The reload today was just to add the splash screen, not the software which is still 3.0.1
The splash screen is just for the cosmetics of the download page. It shows 3.0.2 as this is the current testing version. Down worry about the actual version shown on the download page as we will not change the image every version 3.0.2, 3.0.3 etc

Can you clarify the use of OLD comfigurator installations with new C3 software?

What if i take a C2 file (saved on PC) and load it into C3 ?

Can you guarantee that there willbe no problems?

In my experience I am suspecting that any old installation should be re-programmed from scratch if the C3 software is used?

First, i suggest you to make some backups of all your config files, then open these files with c3. I have had no problem at all.

We have converted many old  C2 files used in installations to C3 with no problems, or all  the known problems have  been addressed in 3.0.1
For old projects, if the configuration is complex I suggest you can still continue to use Comfigurator 2   if you have concerns, as both 2 and 3 can coexist in your computer
For new installations you can start using Comfigurator 3

Take note of the warning about the requirement of updating of the .NET Framework 2  SP2. It prevents an exception when you start the program
