Comfort II has built-in Battery protection features which used to require a separate Battery Protection Module BPM01 in Comfort I
When there is a prolonged power failure and the battery voltage drops, there is a Low Battery Alarm at about 11 to 11.5 volts. If the battery voltage continues to drop further, there will be a point at which the battery is completely cut off, thus shutting off power completely to the system. This saves the battery from being discharged completely which would damage it, and prevents erratic operation of the system if it were supplied by a very low voltage.
When the power is switched on again, the battery will be charged up. The current to charge the weak battery is limited so that it does not "steal" all the current and there is enough current to operate Comfort.
The two lamps LP51 and LP52 light up when the battery is being charged
If the power is off and a battery is connected to Comfort, power is NOT applied to Comfort until the pushbutton switch near to the heatsink is pressed OR until mains power is applied. This allows the battery to be transported with Comfort without power applied.
