Are they available anywhere as basic WAV files (voice snippets?)

Yes, you can download a zipped file here http://www.cytech-technology.com/temp/software/kate_voiceproc.zip

This list looks excellent and there are a number of words I would like to select in place of some of the user defined words in my system. But when I run VoiceProc and select the Kate voice from the folder kate_voiceproc and then go to the 'change user words' screen although I get some of these words, I do not seem to get the ones I want to use (such as observatory).

Am I doing something wrong? The word observatory is included as a wav file in the folder kate_voiceproc, but it doesn't appear in the word list when I select either kate26 or kate28.

Thanks

Geoff

To create your own wordlist, you have to modify the resid.tab file. Resid.tab is the user words.
This is  explained in detail in the VoiceProc Instruction

User-selected words which can be used for naming zones and control keys are placed in the User Table (resid.tabv) using the same rules as for translat.tab. You can have up to 144 words (0 to 143) in the user table. This makes up words 0 to143 in the user wordlist. Words 144 to 254 come from words 0 to 110 in translat.tab The words in the User Table should be words that are NOT used by the system, otherwise the common words should be listed in the translation Table. While the sentence and number tables are fixed in their meaning, the User Table can be customized according to specific requirements, as long as the number of words is less than 144.

Thanks for the reply. I have spent the last week trying to follow the instructions which come with voiceproc, but unfortunately I have had no success.

I managed to edit resid.tab without difficulty, changing a few words to words which are in the kate.wvd and kate.wvd folders.

I managed to save a user word TAB file [newname.tab] without problem, to create a new INI file [newname.ini], BIN file [newname.bin] and CFG file [newname.cfg]. I edited the vocust file to make the second line read '00=newname,newname,cfg,sentence.cfg'. I uploaded newname.bin into comfort OK and I placed the files newname.cfg and vocust.cfg in the same folder as comfigurator, as well as in the compatibility subfolder and in the config subfolder.

When I then open comfigurator, despite downloading the .cclx file from my computer to comfort (thinking this might somehow update the information about wordlists in comfigurator), I still can't select any of the new words I chose to go into resid.tab [such as 'observatory'] in the drop-down lists in comfigurator. They same words do appear in the 'change user words' tab when I load newname.ini into voiceproc.

I do not know what I am doing wrong, but if you can steer me in the right direction I would be most grateful. I have tried hard not to trouble anyone unnecessarily, but 10+ hours later, I just have to ask for some help....

Thanks

Graham

Can you send us the files that you have changed or created including the tab and cfg files to support@cytech.biz so we can see what is missing?

Thanks for this. In fact the problem turned out to be that I had not changed the menu in Comfigurator (Modules & Settings > Miscellaneous > Word List) so that Comfigurator knew which word list to use. Once I discovered this everything worked fine.

It is excellent having more of the words I want in my system - so thanks very much.

Graham

I am glad you managed to figure it out
Can you tell us what additional words you added so that we can consider for future inclusion into the standard wordlist?

Hi

Since you asked, the changes I made were as follows

28 Jacuzzi > Observatory
72 Entertainment > Telephone
74 Maids > Boiler
89 Awning > Video
97 Pelmet > Visitor
100 Yard > House
107 Foyer > Mailbox
111 Projector > Table
117 Carporch > Breakfast
125 Library > Path
128 HVAC > Cat
130 Rumpus > Shed
132 Shutter > Fireplace
133 Powder > Filter
134 Mezzanine > Side
140 Patio > Terrace

I am sure many others would prefer a different set of words, but in the UK I would have thought 'shed' would be a common request. I use 'mailbox' for a switch in the lid of my parcel safe so I know when it has been used, 'filter house' for the fish filtration system building, 'boiler house' for the outbuilding containing the boiler, 'cat lobby' for a back lobby where our cats sleep at night, 'breakfast room' for said room and 'side gate' for the side gate.

Graham

Once you know how to customise the words, you can use any words you need and remove those you do not
Howvever, note that the words BREAKFAST, PATH, PHONE, SIDE, VIDEO are already available in the standard wordlist

It works, the freeze was with Adobe reader 9 opening file from site. Maybe communication problems, memory etc.
