Can you clarify the following for me please.

The J4 (tamper)on my board from left to right is

GRND - TR - COM

on the rev E pcb  manuals it identifies J4 from left to right as

0V - Com - TR

at present my setup is (since install last century)

GRND - connected to both panel tamper and A/T return from CEqura bellbox
TR - connected to panel tamper
COM - connected to Cequra -12v hold off

to keep it in line with manual should I change to

GRND - connect to Cequra -ve 12v hold off
COM - connect to panel tamper
TR - connect to panel tamper and A/T return from Cequra

or does it not really matter.

Finally I am putting 2 off Cequras onto home is it recommended to use the 1 k ohm resistor between +ve hold off and siren -ve on both Cequras.

many thanks

Thats quite confusing.
The tamper header in Comfort has 2 pins. a 3 way terminal block is used to provide an extra connection point to connect the case tamper and the bellbox tamper switches in series

The terminals should be
0V - Tamper - TR (Tamper Return)

Tamper is the Tamper connection to Comfort. Iif this is at 0V then there is no tamper alarm.
0V is connected through the normally closed switches to prevent tamper

The bellbox tamper switch is connected between 0V and TR. In fact this is interchangeable as it is just a switch

Hence the Tamper point is connected though the case tamper switch and then the bellbox tamper switch back to the 0V point for proper operation
I hope this makes sense
If your system has been working I suppose that somehow it was connected correctly although you should test activating the two tampers

Many thanks...

Took your advice and reviewed the panel and connections... there is only 2 pins
marked TR and COM

What threw me was beside the third (missing pin) screw connector , the pcb had 0v printed on it....currently the third screw connects the bellbox tamper to the panel tamper in series, the com supplies -12v hold off..it is wired correctly if only I had noted it in 1999 I wouldn't have had same problems..

I've sketched out my intended 2 off Cequras in parallel (tamper in series on the pdf linked below..

Any comments appreciated

Personally I find the connector names for the bellboxes quite difficult to understand. Unlike Comfort:)

As a long time user of Comfort, would you consider an upgrade to Comfort II if there was an attractive upgrade price. We are working out an upgrade plan to entice users to switch to take advantage of the new capabilities

It would be useful to know which bits of Comfort I can be reused with Comfort II. e.g. what about SEM's, LEM01, LEM03, KP01, UCM01, which I several of across multiple systems. I might be interested in upgrading the main boards for new features and maintainability, but the more of the rest of it which also needs upgrading, I guess the more expensive it's going to get. A table which shows which parts work with which would be useful. Also, does Comfort II still use FS18? (wondering how easily existing programming can be transferred across, or how much rework might be necessary).

The general rule is that anything from Comfort I which is in the Comfort RS485 bus can be used with Comfort II. This includes UCMs, KP01, SEM, RIOs, DP01 etc

LEMs are also usable with Comfort II. Comfort I used 5 V logic and Comfort II uses 3V, but LEMs can still work at 3V

Ringers RGR01, RGR02, RGR03 for Comfort I are NOT compatible and must be changed to RGR04

However SEMs may need to have firmware upgrades, depending on the SEM firmware, refer to the Slave Firmware Compatibility document

To take full advantage of Comfort II, new Keypads and door stations are better for the Intercom function compared to KP01 and DP01, although KP01s can still be used for arming, disarming, recording  and voice menu

UCM05 is recommended as this is able to upgrade firmware on Comfort II, SEMs and UCMs. UCM01 will still be able to upload/download to comfort II

Comfort II Ultra uses File system 34. Your comfort Pro File System 18 can be converted and saved as FS34 using Comfigurator 3

I have heard an installer say that he encountered conversion problems but our experience has been generally painless. Comfort II Ultra includes all features of Comfort I so there should be no major problems

I definately recommend an upgrade
