Hi,

I have set up the main CPU panel on a test bench before installation. I have only connected:

  • Z1: Mag Switch
  • Z2: PIR
  • Z9: TWS Input
  • O/P9: TWS Output
I have written a simple response to turn the lights connected to the TWS on and off and assigned them to the Response On/Response Off of Zone1

Response 240:
78, 9, 13, 78, 9, 255

If Input Zone9 = 0 Then
Toggle Output OP9
End If

Response 241
78, 9, 12, 78, 9, 255

If Input Zone9 <> 0 Then
Toggle Output OP9
End If

I have found that in this configuration the Output fairly consistantly does not switch the relay on the TWS board correctly (the relay sounds as though it is switching and the lights flicker). On further investigation using a multimeter across the O/P9 terminals, I found that in the cases where it doesn't work correctly, it briefly sends 12v down the line and then returns to 0.

I have done the following to test the issue,  but nothing worked:

  • Tested on different O/Ps on the LEM (specfically 10 and 16)
  • Swapped the LEM board and cable link (I have a second one on a Slave unit which hasn't been connected up yet)
  • Swapped the TWS module
  • Removed the cables from the O/P and just tested with a multimeter.
  • Removed the If statement around both responses so it just turns the relay on/off regardless of current state
The only way thing I have found that resolves the issue is if you configure the O/P to OP1 through OP8 on the main board. This works constantly without failure.

Just after writing the above, I have just reprogrammed the responses to toggle both OP1 and OP9. I have connected just LEDs into the connectors and tested. They both switch on and stay on together (with OP9 sometimes switch on slightly later which is probably the programming sequence).

If I connect the TWS module to OP9 with the LED, it seems to 'trip' the relay and the LED on OP9 flickers. The LED connected to OP1 stays on without any problems. If I connect the TWS to OP1, the TWS relay works fine and the LED on OP1 stays on, but the LED on OP9 flickers. I have tested this without the LED in OP1 also and the same thing occurs.

So basically, in short if I have the TWS module connected to either the main CPU or the LEM, the output on the LEM fails to switch regularly

Has anyone else seen this issue?

Thanks

Adam.

Ok,

I have also just done the following

I have set up another response to toggle OP11 on and off and assigned Zone 2 which is connected to the PIR. There is an LED connected to OP11.

If I toggle the PIR so the LED turns on and then start toggling mag sensor on Z1 which lights up OP1 and OP9, as soon as it fails, it also switches off the LED on the OP11

As soon as I re-toggle the PIR it switches on again.

This is all rather dodgy! Please help!

Thanks

Adam.

This problem is due to interference on the LEM cable from the relay switching off and on
Some questions on your configuration'
Are you using Comfort I or II?
Are you using the short LEM cable with the LEM mounted on top of the Comfort PCB (Comfort II only)

Try to move the TWS and wires further from the LEM ribbon cable

If this does not work we have recently made some changes to the OP01 Output plug in board which reduces this problem. This has been reported by other users, so we believe we have a solution. Let me have your contact details so we can send a new OP01 plug in board

Hi

Thanks for the fast reply!

I have a Comfort II. The LEM board I am using is mount on top of the main CPU board with what I assume is the short cable (it is only ~2 inches long).

The TWS is currently mounted about 10 inches away from the LEM cable itself. There are no cables running anywhere near the cable and it still does the same thing.

I only recieved this system a couple of weeks ago from a UK supplier. How long ago was the new boards being shipped? If it means anything, the model numbers on the board are: PC01-056B OP1. On the chip-side of the board it has the number 4606.

If a new OP board is required, I will require three as I have tested all three and all do the same thing. Will you require a copy of the receipt?

Thanks

Adam.

The OP1s were modified a few weeks ago, so it would not have time to go through the supply chain. You dont have to produce a receipt. We will send 3 OP1s.  Let me know if they fix the problem

Hi Chiu

Having just installed my 2 year old Comfort II I now have it all up and running

But have beeen have a problem with  output  09 that used to work all the time on my Comfort I system

Having read this thread I believe I also might have some dodgy Op plugin boards

Mike

The OP1 may not be faulty, but it needs to match with the correct firmware
Can you let us know the firmware versions on your Comfort and Slave. Probably best to send a private message
