Not a biggie
Would it be possible to have custom signatures on this forum with links so we can embed our details into our posts so its fairly instantly apparent who is who on the forum?
I also notice that there isn't a general "catch-all" forum either where members can introduce themselves etc and post on totally non-comfort or even non-HA/non-technical subjects like current affairs, sports or swap anecdotes etc.
OK so there is the potential for rants and flame wars to develop in this type of forum when somebody posts something contraversial (sp ) so the ground rules have to be fairly stringent i.e. no politics or religious topics for a starter and nothing that could be interpreted as being racist or nationalistic either and certainly no personal remarks that could offend and upset anyone, i.e. some gentle ribbing is allowable but it must be clear to all readers that you are not being malicious and/or that you know the recipient of the ribbing. Basically engourage a bit of banter and chat and some humour.
I frequent a small number of highly specialised subject specific technical forums on a variety of subjects from control system design to Land Rover maintainence (don't ask! ) and have noticed that the inclusion of a general comments/any topics forum tends to encourage forum use on the whole and engenders a sense of community.
Or is that I just haven't read the FAQs yet and I'm being a total "newbie"
