Yes UCM05 has integral Serial port and surface connector for the USB module. Changing the J2 shunt makes the USB work. Wouldn't have spotted that in a month of Sundays.
Thank you for confirmation on the other matters. I was think about getting a network module and may just end up buying it with the latest UCM to do the updates.
