Hardware updates required to install GSM4
#1
I am based in the UK and my phone line has been changed to fibre with DECT phones so I have lost the phone connection to my Comfort system. I can see that a GSM4 would allow me to remote disarm my system but my Comfort system is old and I need some help understanding which parts need new hardware or firmware for a GSM4 to work. My system is as follows:

Comfort Ultra II
Version 7.093
File system 34
Vocab 5
Custom vocab = No
System vocab 28
User vocab 1
LCD text 1
LCD KP minimum version 3
UCM type 10
Version 7.076
I am attaching a photo of my UCM in case this helps (I think it is pretty old).

I will be most grateful for any advice.

Hi Gary. You can buy a UCM/4G-A7608 GSM Module. This will allow dial in and Dial out by Comfort without a telephone line, as well as SMS In and Out. You need a nano SIM card either prepaid or postpaid. Sim card plans cost very little these days. Make sure you home has 4G coverage.
You will have to upgrade your UCM and Comfort firmware so they can support the new module

Thank you for the rapid reply. Are you able to tell from the information I have supplied whether I will be able to update the firmware using either my existing UCM or the UCM/4G-A7608 GSM Module?

Also will I be able to control the system from home using my mobile over WiFi or do I need a WiFi UCM? With my current setup the comfort phone App can’t connect to my system, but maybe that’s because my firmware is out of date.

You can use your existing UCM to upgrade its own firmware then the Comfort firmwareThe UCM/4G7608 is for gsm connctivity, i is not the standard UCM so that cannot be used to upgrade firmwareYour UCM/ETH03 should be able to let your comfort app work with Comfort.

There is a better option using raspberry Pi and Home Assistant see http://www.comfortforums.com/forum143/5577.html
