Firmware upgrade versions
#11
MPU01 is now installed and firmware is showing in system information as 7.164.

However, when I try to update comfort from Comfigurator, pressing F0 on the keypad and entering the engineer code on the laptop, I\'m getting an error, \"Please enter the Engineer code, not a user code\"

This was all working ok before and the engineer code hasn\'t changed. I confirmed I\'m able to log in to the keypad with the engineer code. Also tried resetting comfort but still the same error so at the moment I\'m unable to update Comfort from Comfigurator with my latest Response updates.

The problem is that the engineer user number was changed from 18 to 254 in 2011 to allow more more user codes. But Comfigurator 2 expects the engineer user to be 18 hence the error. You can downgrade the firmware to ULT  6.007  attachedwhich was the last firmware to have engineer user number 18. I recommend to change to Comfigurator 3 as soon as possible. Both Comfigurator 2 and 3 can be installed in the same PC

Couldn’t I also disable the MPU with J14 shorted? So going back to the built in firmware 5.045, running the response update and then removing J14 and going back to the MPU? As a temporary solution at least.

If so, can I do the J14 short and revert without shutting the power down or better to power down completely, then short, then power up? And just to confirm I can indeed leave the MPU in place when shorting J14, I don’t have to remove it to go back to underlying 5.045 as long as J14 short is in right?

I can’t go back on the firmware because I don’t think I can update the comfort firmware with a programming cable and my current UCM/RS232 although please confirm there because the label on the chip is firmware 5.92 which is above the required firmware version, but the system scan shows 5.092 which is below the required version.

shorting J14 will reset the CPU so the firmware  will not work at all. If you want to revert to the old firmware you will have to unplug the MPU.

5.092 is the same as 5.92. a lonmg time ago we only used 2 digits eg .92 but we later changed to 23 digits , thus .092

Ok so unplug MPU but according to instructions the J14 needs to be shorted in order to use the underlying 5.045 chip. J14 was shorted in place while using 5.045, before I added the MPU and removed the short.

So to be clear, I think these are the steps, please confirm:-

1. Power off
2. Remove MPU
3. Short J14
4. power on.

Or can I indeed leave the short off on J14 in step 3?

Sorry, you are correct. It has been a long time since I have used MPU01 about 15 years.

Quote:Remove two position Shunt J14 in order to enable operation of the MPU01. J14 must be shunted when the onboard U1 is in control and removed when the MPU01 is in control

You should be able to shunt J14 to allow the base board microcontroller to operate, without doing power off

Ok great, so does that also mean I don’t in fact have to remove the MPU01 and I just simply leave it in place and change the J14 shunt to enable the old 5.045 firmware?

And also separately to confirm, the UCM/RS232 with 5.092 can’t upgrade the comfort firmware correct?

Correct on both questions

Thanks. And do I need to power down before moving J14? I’m assuming comfort can’t just change firmware mid flow without some kind of shut down or reset?

Yes please power down before changing the shunt
