Programming the HIO

Use the Comfigurator software version 3.11.10 or above to configure HIO01. The software can be downloaded from  https://www.cytech.biz/comfigurator.html
One of the following equipment is needed to configure HIO01;

• UCM/LOGIC with plug in ETH03 or USB interface. UCM/Logic is a controller and UCM on one product.
• Logic Engine LGX01 with UCM/USB or UCM/ETH03
• Comfort CP9000 with UCM/USB or UCM/ETH03

Run Comfigurator, go to the Modules Tab and right-click on the HIO folder as shown below.


“Scan for HIOs” to detect any HIOs in the network if the IDs is set correctly without any conflict with other HIOs.

“Add HIO” allows you to manually add an HIO if not currently connected to Comfort, i.e. when doing programming off-line.

The result of scanning or adding a HIO  is shown below for HIO Id 1. The new HIO is seen on the middle and right panes.




IN HIO Properties on the right;

• “ID” is the ID of the HIO from 1 to 15
• “Name” is any text description for the HIO used to identify it.
• “Type” is the HIO Type, HIO01
• “Version” is the HIO firmware version which in this example shows 7.000. If the HIO was manually added instead of being scanned, the firmware information will not appear.
• “Latest Version” is the latest release version available when internet connection is present.
• “Serial Number” is the electronic serial number of  the HIO, if any.

In the middle pane, “Status” shows the status of the HIO. It is ‘Polled’ when the HIO is detected and matches the number of HIOs programmed in the system. ‘Not Polled’ will be displayed when the HIO is detected by scanning but the number of HIOs programmed is less than the HIO Id. ‘Not Found’ is shown when the HIO is added to Comfigurator but is not connected to the controller when scanning is done.
Click on the HIO01 text below the HIO folder to show the HIO configuration screen shown below;

The  menu items are; Write to HIO01, Read from HIO01, Reset to Default,  Get Status. Save Template, Load Template

Write to HIO01
This writes the tables into the HIO

Read from HIO01
This reads the data from HIO and displays  the data on screen

Reset to Default
This  clears all the data in the tables  to default, but does not write any data to HIO.

Get Status
The Get status button causes the HIO status to be shown on the status bar on bottom left, for example,
\"Normal/No error\"

When the cursor is moved away from the HIO screen, Get status is automatically turned off, and when the cursor is on the HIO screen the get status function is turned on if Comfigurator is logged in.

Room ID

Each HIO is assigned a ROOM ID in the range 1 to 15 or FF for Unassigned (default). The room ID is used when 2 or more HIOs in the same network are part of the same room eg a Suite in which case the Room ID for the HIOs should be set to the same number. The HIO with a Room ID  reports changes in Scene, Keycard, MUR, DND, PIR, Door sensor, Doorbell, Occupancy. The controller will broadcast the changed state using ID 0. Other HIO in the same network with the same Room ID will act on the broadcast commands on its own inputs and outputs


Light off Dim Level
LED level when the light is OFF, 0 means off, 63 is full bright. This is the LED dim level when when the Light is OFF and led is off state.  The dim level is supposed to help the guest to find the light switch when the lights are off.

Share Switch Input/LED Output Pin

The HIO Input can be shared with the LED Output so that the same I/O pin can read the Input state as well as drive the LED on the ELV switch if the ELV switch is designed with shared I/O pins. This reduces the number of connections on the ELV switch to 1 signal per Switch/LED.
If the Switch Input does not have an LED, then disable this option. If disabled, the I/O pin will be an Input pin only.

Occupancy Indication by Doorbell
Occupancy Indication by doorbell - Pressing and holding Doorbell for 6 seconds will allow occupancy to be shown on MUR/DND. Doorbell pulse in 100 ms units when Occupancy detection by doorbell is on.
If Occupancy Indication by doorbell is disabled, and the doorbell output directly follows the doorbell Input

Master Switch Setting
This  determines what happens when the Master switch is pressed when its state is OFF. If NO Action is selected, the Master switch is for Master OFF only.

Temperature Sensor Name

Map the Temperature obtained from the Thermistor input to a Sensor Register for monitoring by Controller (optional)

Blinds Operation Mode

Follower: Output follows Input press. Pulse: pressing the Input button produces a fixed Pulse on the Output according to Blinds Pulse Duration.
If Pulse is selected, value is Pulse width for Blinds in Pulse Mode in 100 ms units


Keycard Off Timer

Delay to switch off ELV lighting channels,  Primary & Secondary relay after keycard is removed.


Primary Relay Occupancy  Timer
Delay after door is closed to turn off  Primary relay and ELV lighting channels if PIR does not detect motion in Occupancy Sensing Mode.


Secondary Relay Occupancy Timer 
Delay after Door is closed to turn off Secondary Relay  if PIR does not detect motion in Occupancy Sensing Mode.


Lighting Occupancy Timer
Delay after Door is closed to turn off Lighting ELV channels   if PIR does not detect motion in Occupancy Sensing Mode.


Courtesy Timer
Delay for Courtesy Scene before it switches off if keycard is not inserted or motion not detected.

Boot-up Timer
Delay after power On before operation starts to allow sensors to settle.

Window Timer
Delay after window is opened before the Keycard output or Primary Relay output is switched off

Lighting Sequence Timer
When  Lighting Occupancy Timer Expires, this is the delay between each light turning off in sequence instead of all lights off at once

Each switch input has a corresponding output that can be connected to a LED or a relay depending on the function.
An example of the assignment of Channels to different functions is shown below.



For each channel, the following functions can be selected from a drop-down list;




ELV Switch
This input is connected to an ELV switch with LED used for lighting or other on/off appliances. Pressing this switch toggles the LED state and the corresponding Output.  Any Input can be designated as ELV Switch.  If Keycard is off (or occupancy is in unoccupied state), the ELV switches are disabled.
Input State = Normally Open, Momentary

Make Up Room
Pressing this switch toggles the LED state and the coresponding Output, and also switches off the DND led. Only 1 input can be designated as MUR
Input State = Normally Open, Momentary

Do Not Disturb
Pressing this switch toggles the LED state and the corresponding Output and also switches off the MUR led. If the DND state is on, the Doorbell input is disabled. Only 1 input can be designated as DND
Input State = Normally Open, Momentary

Doorbell
Pressing this switch momentarily turns on the LED state and the corresponding Output to the Chime. Only 1 input is designed doorbell.   If DND state is on, the doorbell  switch is disabled ie the chime is not activated.

Keycard
The Keycard Channel Output normally  controls the supply to all the power points and the Airconditioner in the room. But there is no  Keycard in the room, the Primary Relay Output must be selected.
If Keycard setting is enabled, and the keycard is ON (inserted), the keycard output and Secondary  Outputs are turned on.
This also activates the programmable welcome scene. When the keycard is removed, there is a programable delay to switch off the keycard and Secondary outputs. If the keycard is removed, the ELV switches are disabled and lighting outputs are switched off.
The Keycard can only be assigned to Channel 1 which on the HIO/RL1 has normally open and normally closed contacts.
The Door Contact / PIR for Occupancy sensing also controls this output if keycard is not enabled.
Input state – Normally Open

Primary Relay
The Primary Relay channel should be selected if there is no keycard in the system ie using Occupancy sensing. The Input for this channel can be connected to an ELV switch but it is usually not used except for testing. If Keycard is present, the Keycard output is used for switching the aircon and power points. Only channel 1 can be selected for the Primary Relay (if Keycard is not selected). 

Secondary Relay
This is an optional channel which may be connected to the supply for power points in the room, if required to be separate from Airconditioner control.The Input of the channel can be connected to an ELV switch but it is usually not used except for testing.

Master Scene
If Master LED is on, pressing it will switch the Master Off Scene, ie all lights off except designated light eg Night light. When the Master LED is off, pressing it will turn on the Master On Scene, or no action (programmable). If any light is switched on, the Master LED turns on so that Master Off can be pressed. Hence the Master On and Master Off scenes are associated with this switch.
Input State = Normally Open, Momentary

Door Sensor
This input is for the Door sensor. It is used for Occupancy sensing in Special Functions.
Input State = Normally Closed

Room PIR sensor
This input is for the ROOM PIR  sensor. It is used for Room Occupancy sensing in Special Functions. The Output will follow the Input so a lamp can be connected to check the status
Input State = Normally Closed

Toilet PIR sensor
This input is for the Toilet PIR  sensor for Toilet Occupancy Sensing in Special Functions. The Output will follow the Input so a lamp can be connected to check the status
Input State = Normally Closed

Scene 1 to Scene 4
Pressing the button triggers the Scene. There is no LED indication. The LED turns on momentarily when pressed
Input State = Normally Open, Momentary

Blinds
More than 1 button can be assigned to Blinds. It can be used for Blinds up, Blinds down or stop. There are 2 modes of operation; Follower, or Pulse. The mode is defined in Properies.

1. Follower: the Output always follows the input, ie when the input is on, the output also turns on and vice versa.  Pressing and holding the button causes the output to turn on, releasing the button causes the output to turn off.
2. Pulse: when the input is pressed, a fixed duration pulse on the output is produced. The pulse duration is defined in Properties.

Input State = Normally Open


Dimmer 1 and 2
This switch controls the 0-10V output 1 and 2. Short Press will toggle the light to On/off state. Long press will dim up or dim down alternately from the last state. Go to 0-10V Output Tab for properties of the Dimmers.

Connecting Door
This input indicates a Connecting Door between 2 adjacent rooms. If the door is open in both rooms, it indicates that both rooms are connected. The MUR and DND for both rooms should be the same ie when MUR or DND is on or off in one room, the same indication should be in the other room. The occupancy status of the 2 rooms should be combined as a single room. That means keycards from both rooms are used in determining occupancy. Any keycard removed means the occupant is going out of  the room. The occupancy detection algorithm should be started by any of the 2 doors being closed. The Motion detector in each room will both work to detect occupancy. This feature requires a UCM/Logic controller connected to 2 HIOs.

Window
This input when open causes the Keycard or primary relay output to be turned off after the Window Timer Delay (in HIO Properties)
Input State = Normally Closed

[size=\"3\"]0-10V Outputs[/size]




This sets the properties of the two 0-10 V dimmer outputs which can be assigned to any channel.

0-10V Dimmer Full Scale Level
255 or 99  are the 2 possible values for counter mapping. The full scale value set to the counter will set the analog output to full scale (10V). If the counter value is higher than the full scale value, the analog output will be limited to 10V.

0-10V Dimmer Output Travel Time
Time taken to fully dim or brighten 0-10V outputs (0-254 seconds)

0-10V Dimmer On Level
0-10V Output On to full level or On to last Level

0-10V Dimmer Min Dim Level
If > 0, the dimming level will not go below this value when dimmed by pressing the Input dimmer switch. When controlled by Counter, a counter value of 0 will switch off, but value of 1 to Minimum dimming level will set the level to Min Dimming level

[/size][size=\"3\"][size=\"2\"]A scene is a combination of lights that are switched On and Off including the dim levels of the 0-10V outputs. This applies to ELV switch channels only.

The meaning of the Scenes are as follows;

Welcome Scene
This is triggered by keycard or Occupancy status. Select the Lights that should be switched on and off.

Master On Scene
Select the lights that are to be switched on and off when the Master switch is  turned on.
Input State = Normally Open, Momentary

Master Off Scene
Select the lights that are to be switched on and off when the master switch is turned off.

Power Reset
Select the channels that are to be switched on and off when there is power reset. See “Effect of Power Reset” below.
Scenes 1 to 4
4 programmable scenes are available. For each scene, select the ELV channels/lights that are switched on and off.

Toilet Occupancy Scene
Select the lights that are to be switched on for  toilet occupancy detection using the Toilet PIR sensor.  Other lights not selected are not affected

[size=\"3\"]Effect of Power Reset
[/size]When power is switched on to the HIO, 
if keycard is enabled, if the keycard is inserted the keycard and Secondary Relay output (if defined) are turned on. Select which ELV lights are to  be turned on in Power Reset setting. This happens after a power failure and power is restored.
If  Keycard is not enabled, turn on ELV lights in Power Reset Scene. Start Lighting Occupancy  Timers which will turn off the respective outputs if  PIR does not detect motion.

[/size]Room Occupancy, Open Door Courtesy Light, Toilet Occupancy, Occupancy Indication by Doorbell, Window/Aircon Linkage


Room Occupancy Sensing
This is function for energy saving based on PIR motion detection. If none of the channels are Room PIR then this function is not enabled.
If Keycard is not enabled, the occupancy status is solely determined by the PIR and Door sensor.

If the Room PIR is present, the Room Occupancy function sensing is enabled.
When the Door Sensor is closed, the Primary Relay Occupancy Timer,  Secondary Relay Occupancy Timer and Lighting Occupancy Timers  are started. If the delay is disabled (FF) then the corresponding timer will not start and the function does not work.
If the Room or Toilet PIR detects motion or any ELV switch is pushed, the timers are stopped and Occupancy Status is set to ON.
If the PIR does not detect motion during the Primary Relay Occupancy timer delay, the Primary Relay output is switched off, and the ELV channels/lights are switched off. Occupancy status is changed to OFF.

If the Secondary Relay Occupancy Delay expires without motion, the  Seconday relay is switched off as well as  all lighting channels.
If the Lighting Occupancy Delay expires without motion,  all lighting channels are switched off.

If motion is subsequently detected,  the Primary Relay, Secondary Relay and the  channels/lights that were switched off are switched on again, and  Occupancy Status is changed to ON.

Open Door Courtesy Light
This function is enabled by the presence of the Door Sensor. If the room is not occupied (Occupancy Status off), when the Door is opened the Secondary Relay output will be turned on and Courtesy Scene will be activated for the duration of the Courtesy Light Timer. If the courtesy light timer is disabled, the timer will not start and the courtesy lights do not switch off automaticaly

If the Keycard is inserted, the  occupancy status is set to on.

If the Room or Toilet PIR detects motion within the Courtesy Light delay (for Keycard not enabled), occupancy status is set ON, and Primary relay turns on. The Welcome scene is activated.

If the keycard is not inserted or PIR is not active by the expiry of the timer, the Secondary  relay is switched off and the courtesy lights are switched off.

Toilet Occupancy Sensing
This function requires a Toilet PIR as one of the channels. The purpose of this is convenience, so that when someone goes into the toilet, the toilet lights are automatically turned on. The Toliet  light does not switch off automatically, to prevent people sitting still causing lights to turn off
If present, the Toilet PIR  also determines occupancy in conjunction with the Room PIR.

Occupancy Indication by Doorbell
A method of telling the cleaning staff whether the room is occupied is by pressing and holding the Doorbell for (6) seconds. Then the MUR and DND will turrn on for 1 second. After that, the occupancy is shown on the MUR and DND leds  (inside as well as Outside the room) until the doorbell is released. If unoccupied, MUR is on. If Occupied, the DND is on. Occupancy is determined either by Keycard or occupancy sensing. Doorbell pulse width is 100ms to 4 seconds in 100ms intervals, which starts when the doorbell is released if the press duration is less than (7) seconds. This function is enabled by “Occupancy Indication by Doorbell” in Properties

Window/Aircon Linkage
If the Window Timer is set to a nonzero value and one of the channels is a Window. This function is enabled. When the window is opened, the Window Timer will start. If the Window remains open at the end of the delay, the Primary Relay or Keycard Output is turned off.
