What is a "digital" input?

Hi,
I am replacing my 15 year old Comfort system with a new one, and finding things are a bit different this time round. One question I can\'t find the answer to on the forums or the manuals concerns the digital flag on the zone types list. What does that mean? They\'re all digital aren\'t they? (apart from when you use the EOL resistors and then the analogue voltage is detected obviously).
What difference does it make if the input is defined as digital or not?
The comfigurator help just states that this defines the input as digital.
Sorry if this seems like a stupid question, but it\'s got be confused.

A Digital input in Zone types means that it will only be On or Off, and never report Trouble. Non-digital zones with End of line resistors actually have 4 states; short circuit, closed, open, open circuit. Open circuit and closed circuit report as Zone Trouble

Digital zone types should not be used for alarm sensors, they can be used for non alarm inputs like switches

Ah.. one of my quires too - so DigitalNO is equivalent to ZoneType 8 (SwitchNO) where there are no EOL and the jumper is set accordingly?

Yes Digital N/O is similar to Switch N/O
You can use both types without EOL resistors. With Digital, the position of the shunt does not affect it
