So I\'m still confused. Does this need new hardware then or is it going to be a firmware update ?

It should be another ethernet plug in to replace the ETH02

Is the plan to have it just for email, or would some form of push notification also be available for iPhone android app?

Just the email sending function will be supported by the new module
If you mean Notifications for the iphone and android apps, not at the moment, that is more complex and is a function of the app, not the Ethernet interface

In theory would it be possible to add that functionality to the app afterwards or would it be something you would look at?
With email, I just find that you will tend to miss notification as you don\'t immediately address and email when it comes in, as it is a regular occurrence, whereas with am alarm notification you would react to .
Just not sure if email notification is a full solution for something like security?

What else is new about this \"eth/3\" module; it must be because of more than just email. Newer/faster chipset, more memory?

Yep, email is fire and forget, so of it doesn\'t get read, no follow up.
In an ideal world, if I was developing a new bit of hw or feature, I would link it to some sort of app or server where you had a watchdog alarm and then also your normal security alarms etc.
You would not be able to have a watchdog reporting from comfort direct to the phone app as loss of coverage or service would cause the watchdog to activate, but if you were to have it report to a cytech server which the ap checked in on when it was in coverage.
Might even be able to do something like that with email from comfort to a server.
Maybe I\'m waffling again though, sorry
