KP04/5 Power Supply

I want to locate an rfid reader next to a keypad.  The reader needs 9-12v. Is it possible to take the supply from the keypad or is it best to run a separate supply to it?

Run separate 12 v from comfort so there is no additional voltage drop along the wires
