Chirp external bellbox
#1
Now that my external sensors are in I want to build some responses to scare away those who would seek to break in before they actually break in!

Ideally I guess I would like them to trigger the alarm but I will start slow and check with a counter over a few nights whether anything sets them off or not.

In the meantime I have them set to turn on all the flood lights if they are triggered in nightmode or away mode and flash the strobe and beep the siren for 5 seconds!

My thinking is that I should probably build a response which activates the alarm if more than one sensor is activated in a set period of time - anyone done something similar or got any thoughts?

Thanks

Stuart

Just testing it out and spotted a strange one which is not helping my cunning plan.

Using the Bell On command it only activated the Bell on Bellbox which is connected to the main comfort panel.

The other 2 Bell Boxes (one on the back of the house and one on the garage) which are connected to the slaves do not activate. (They do when a proper alarm occurs as we checked them when we installed them).

The Strobe On command which I use at the same time activates the strobe on all the bell boxes....

I really want them all to beep - especially the back one so if someone is sneaking up then they know the alarm has detected them and its not just external PIR turning on normal lights!

Thanks

Which firmware are you using on Comfort and Slaves?
Perhaps that may be a bug

To activate an alarm only when 2 detectors are trigger use the Alert Zone Type
You need 2 different alert zones to trigger within 10 minutes in order to activate the intruder alarm

There is also the Perimeter Alert zone type which is used with alert zones
You need a Permieter  Alert folowed by Zone Alert (or the reverse) to trigger an alarm

Hi Ident,

Comfort = 6.005
Slaves = 6.004

I had considered Alert Zone types - but wasnt sure if it would go off if they kept triggering a single sensor - eg walked up to one bit of the house only....

Have to have a think :-)

Thanks

The Bell On/Off action only works for the Comfort SRN output, not for slaves
You should use the Activate Siren action and select a suitable Siren Type. This will work for all Slaves

Thanks Ident - my mistake I thought the Siren would activate the internal speaker which I didnt want!

Hi Ident,

Using Activate Siren is no gooid as it activates the internal speaker which would wake everyone up. The external bell box bleeping is designed to put someone off before they break in not wake the house up in case of false alarm! :-)

Would it be possible to update the firmware in the next release to enable the slave bellboxes to trigger with the Bell on command?

Thanks

Stuart
