To keep anyone who is interested updated I can now monitor the rako lights being switched off and on from the ucm - slow but steady progress :-)

Cheers

A serious query now.

When I got the system I was hoping it would be very flexible and let me do things like this:

PIR in daughters room detects she has got up in the night so it puts the lights on at a very low level in here room and down the corridor to the bathroom after she gets back to her room it switches them off.

Looking in the Comfort to Device section though it looks like we can only use predefined event types - I really hope I am missing something!

I apologise if my monologue is becoming boring but hopefully some one will find it useful one day...

so after more reading I discover that I can set-up responses to send RS232 commands (Im not sure if they work with the universal?)

Well I set it up as test but it seems to auto change it to hex when the rako needs to receive ASCII Decimal (but that option does not appear to be available in the response wizard) I\'m hoping I am missing something or it is an easy bit of code to tweak.

I\'m very concious that I might be the first doing this and am very grateful for the help (I should have done it last December!!!)

My final update for the night (and now sort of working)

I found that in the UCM Universal properties I can select Rako as a UCM Command type.

This then gives a new option in the Responses wizard for Append new action of UCM and then RAKO.

For some reason to get it to work the first time I had to send a House command even though this had been set previously - oh well all working now :-)

My next thing is to figure out how to store the light states for each room some how - anyone point me add a walk through :-)

Thanks

Try using Flags to store the on/off states of the Rako lights
Set or clear a flag with the Response along with the ON and OFF command

also do the same when you receive commands from the Rako remote control so the flags are able to keep track

I dont know if the universal receive command for on/off from the remote control as I have not used it before

a uutx file is a template file for the Universal UCM
Use Load Template or Save Template on the Universal UCM configurator

The Comfort to Device section is for sending alarm  events to the device. As you have discovered, to send general commands triggred by events to Rako, you can use the Response Wizard. There is a UCM/Universal manual on the website but it  does not cover specific products like Rako
We will be  producing Application  notes for Rako, Dynalite, HomeEasy etc, but progress is slow.

However you seem to have figured out most things for yourself, so congratulations
