KP04's no voice's from speaker
#1
Hi,
I can\'t seem to get my 2 KP04 keypads to produce voice/speech sounds any more. They stopped working after I changed the install layout. I have updated the boards firmware, the UCM/Ethernet\'s firmware and tried installing the Kate29.bin vocabulary. The usual Transfer - Vocab upgrade failed with communications errors every time after 6-12% so I completed it using the Transfer - Sentence tables upgrade which worked.

The *+1 combination to download to the keypads took MANY MANY attempts to get it to complete, most times it would go a few blocks and freeze.

I have reverted to the default Comfort Ultra II set-up in Comfigurator V 3.1.8.0 and still no luck. (Config file attached). I have removed 1 keypad from the system and left the ID#1 on to rule out issues with the other one.

System details:

Comfort II Ultra Version: 5.183
File system: 34
Vocabulary No.: 5
Custom vocabulary: No
System vocabulary No.: 29
User vocabulary version: 1
LCD text version: 1
LCD maximum version: 3
UCM type: 10
UCM Version: 5.192

KP04 version: 1.012

I\'ve confirmed the cabling is correct, and the LCD display and buttons work as they should but not the voice sounds. The internal speakers are working I think as the keypad makes a sort of faint static where there should be speech, so it\'s trying to say something and the siren works from the keypad on alarm.

Is the KP04 version = 1.012 an issue as I read in the manual something about requiring version 1.3+ ?

Paul

Edit: This is the bit in the KP04 manual that has me confused about what version the KP has to be. What are they asking me to do in points 2 & 3 to get sub 1.03 KP04\'s to work??

1. Power up the KP04 by connecting  ONLY the 12V/COM. The KP04should display the version number as the time on the LCD screen. For example, the version shown in the image below is 1.01.

2. If the version shown is 1.01, then download the correct default found on https://www.cytech.biz/software.html.

3. Following that, download the configuration into the keypads using the LCD Keypad Language Customisation Software

4. If the version shown is 1.03 or later, connect up the KP04 to Comfort as per normal.5.Should there be a mismatch between the versions of the language displayed and the vocabulary on board Comfort, the KP04 will display“Wrong Text. Press *1 to sync”.

The KP04 firmware version minimum is 1.03, not 1.3 so your firmware should be higher than that
The instructions in the manual are confusing and will be reworded. They do not apply to your case
The problems with your keypads is due to the Vocab upgrade not succeeding, and causing the voice to be lost

Do a Reset of Comfort by pressing the reset button. Try the Vocabulary upgrade again. The vocabulary upgrade should complete successfully and the voice on the keypads should be restored. Once this is done the keypads will be able to synchronise with the text from Comfort using *1

Thanks, ok I will try the reset.

My KP04\'s both say the version is 1.012 which is less then 1.03, this version number is on both the display and sticker on the main chip. Maybe this should be 1.12 if you are saying the minimum is 1.03?

The numbers 1.03 should have read 1.003 so 1.012 is higher

Hi, I\'ve been away and only got around to trying the reset button on Comfort now. It did not work, same thing as before, the vocab upgrade if failing with errors after a few %. Example of the UCM I/O monitor output when it fails:

I dont know what you have problems with the voice upgrade. Can you try the new voice Myma31.bin from https://www.cytech.biz/Downloads/Files/239/myma31.zip

I assume  you using Comfogurator 3.18

Hi, thanks for that but I\'m still having the same problem, fails due to errors.

Yes I am using Comfigurator V 3.1.8.0

I only purchased the panel within the last month. I have not had it up and running fully yet. The voices were working at the beginning but then for some reason they disappeared and have not worked since.
