I am afraid we cannot make progress on this unless we can duplicate this and see for ourseves. Is there anyone in the UK or elsewhere who has encountered this problem
I am afraid we dont have a solution for what I see as an unknown signal on the telephone line which causes Comfort to answer the call when the number of rings is sset to 0 or 1. We have not found such a problem in our own testing.

I have to say that we cannot guarantee that we can make any progress on such a condition. Comfort may not be able to do everything that all users expect, no matter how much we try.

This may also be related to the fact Comfort saves Answerphone messages for someone who has already hung up - and Comfort then opens the line itself after hang up.

Done some more testing - using the On Hook and Off Hook responses. When these responses are triggered, they set a counter. If I pick up the phone line, the counter gets set, and it's logged in homeseer. If you call the house, and pick up the phone, the hook responses work.
So, last night, at 10.42pm, Comfort has recorded the BT message "please hang up and try again" - you get this if you pick up the phone and dont dial a number.
Calling 1471 shows no one called at that time
HomeSeer shows no "Phone Ring" activity at that time (as reported from Comfort)
The on/of hook counters never changed.
So, Comfort is picking up the line, but none of the usual triggers from Comfort show this has happened. You have stated there's something on my line causing this - but even if that were true, all of the above triggers in the logs would show some activity.
This is a definitely a Bug.

The Onhook and Offhook Responses are activated only when the phone is taken offhook or onhook by someone, and not when Comfort does it. You can verify this by calling and letting the answering machine answer - this will not activate onhook/offhook responses
The Phone Ring report is only given on the 2nd ring. You cam very this by dialing in and monitoring the RP report from Comfort/Homeseer
A Ring signal is a 25 to 100 V AC signal superimposed on the 50VDC voltage of the telephone line. Comfort hardware detects a 20V+ AC signal as a ring. Hence if there was such a signal on the line for any reason, eg a lightning strike or other voltage surge for a number of milliseconds, Comfort would see it as one ring. The answering machine would then pick up, the Greeting message would play, and start recording.
Since Comfort is holding the line off hook, BT would give the message "Please hang up and call again" which is then recorded.
If you want to avoid having to hear these BT messages, you should set the number of rings to 2. If you wish to leave it at 0 or1 at Night so that you are not disturbed, then I dont think a "stray" message like this ionce in a while s such a big hardship. Just press 1 to skip or 3 to delete.

I think youre missing the point.
When Comfort does this, the keypad blasts out these messages in the dead of night - and it WILL wake everyone in the house up. You can see the times vary throughout the night. As the keypad has a manual volume control, you would have to manually every single night turn the volume to nothing, and every single morning put it back again - not very 'automated' is it.
Would you want to get up at 3am every morning to sort it out manually ? Your statement 'I dont think a "stray" message like this ionce in a while s such a big hardship' is not particularly helpful. If it helps to debug, I can get Comfort to call your rmobile phone every times this happens if you like ?
Happened again this morning.

My point is that all systems have limitations and no product can do exactly what you want in all circumstances. This is not something we can do anything about for the reasons I gave in my previous post. We may just have to set a minimum of 2 rings to avoid this in future. Hope you understand

No, I dont understand. This is something we need to track down. I appear to have found quite a few bugs recently on Comfort which have been fixed.
It doesnt happen every day, but recently more than ever. The issue was normally comfort picking up the line when no one had called, but also we've had the problem recently where Comfort was picking up the line AFTER someone had called, but had already hung up.
There are 2 problems here, which on the face of it appear to be related. These must be investigated.
I'll recap
1. Comfort picks up phone line when set to 0 rings when No one has called.
2. Comfort picks up the line after someone has called and already hung up and phone on hook (any number of rings - ie during security off)

I'll try the DECT phone change.
But youve not really answered one question - regardless of how this is happening , even if it is a BT test signal, when Comfort picks up the phone line there is NO log of this happening whatsoever.
No on/of hook change, no UCM activity which Homeseer can detect - nothing. No detection of any change in the phone line status, yet it decides to take the phone off hook.
Could you give an explanation please.

Hi
I've had the same problem for some time now. I have the problem in day mode or security off. I don't use night mode. My answer phone rings are set to 6. I don't think I had the problem until I changed my normal telephone to a set of two wireless telephones. I keep meaning to put my old phone back on to check but haven't got round to it yet. I get the "please hang up and try again" message every 24 hours around 8.20pm, usually within a few minutes of this time. I can also get it at other times as well. It records to the answer phone. It’s a right pain when it happens at 3 in the morning though this is rare. I haven't been on this forum before otherwise would have mentioned it earlier. I did mention it to a guy on the comfort stand at the NEC show earlier this year but they had no knowledge of it.
Sometimes when it happens and Im close by I hear a single beep about a second before coming from my handset. Then the voice sounds out over the keypad. Do you think my wireless phones talk to each other periodically?
I would love to know how to fix it. I think the significant thing for me is that my rings are set to 6. If would have to be a pretty long spurious voltage on the line for comfort to pick it up. Plus it happens at regular intervals (plus the random times).
