Hi,

I've been developing and running ComfortClient for a couple of months now on Windows 8. It installs and works fine.

I am developing using visual studio 2010 at the moment.

There is one issue (warning) I am seeing on ComfortClient Uninstall; in fact you'll get 3 of them.

I believe it is due to the installer trying to delete shortcuts from the START menu; not surprising it might fail then as Windows 8 doesn't have a START menu anymore. It didn't complain on install though when it tries to add them which is strange too!.

I have this logged on the Microsoft forum but if you do install/uninstall on Windows 8 then you can safely ignore these warnings IMHO.

Regards

Julian

p.s ignore the version as this is just the version I was using when I snagged the screenshot.

This problem was acknowledged by Microsoft and it doesn't do this anymore so I guess a Windows 8 update has fixed somewhere along the line since it was released.

Still seems to be chundering along as an issue at Microsoft camp; see below if you are interested.

First was NVidia driver, now desktop.ini....

Hi Julian

Just downloaded this today.......good stuff! It works fully BUT I don't seem to be able to change the config file. You have to be logged in for the necessary dialogue box to enable you to change settings BUT when you want to change settings it asks me to log out!

Hi,

Yes I added that feature for security. The option to edit the configuration only appears when you are logged on by default.

If you want to get to this menu when signed out then when you've signed in go to options and set "persist configuration menus" to true. Then in future it'll be permanently available.

Alternatively if you just want to edit floorplans you can of course also start up FloorplanEditor directly.

That should fix! Enjoy.

Ah, I've just re-read what you wrote.

Yep that could be a deadlock. You can still do the fix I advised and I'll fix in next version.
