Hi - I am having problems with z-wave. I have a Z-Wave 3.42 version 7.104. My Comfort is Comfort 2Z Ultra version 7.142.
I noticed yesterday that a virtual device was not working as it should. I now realise this could have been happening for some time! When I looked at the device it had changed from virtual to basic. I have recently added some new z-wave devices to the primary controller, Homeseer using a zme_uzb stick. All the devices controlled by HomeSeer are working as they should showing no errors. I thought doing a Learn might resolve the problem. I did the Learn and the device that was showing basic reverted to virtual and the new devices appeared in the list. I wrote to the EEPROM when Comfigurator asked me to do so.
However, I then noted a different device although showing as virtual was not in green text and was not working as it should. I did another Learn. This appeared to work but when Comfigurator asked to write to the EEPROM I got the message; The EEPROM data is invalid - please perform a Learn Z-Wave Network operation. I tried to do another Learn but nothing happened. HomeSeer tried numerous times to send the info then timed out. The Comfigurator popup appears; Waiting for response from Z-Wave. It just sits there and does nothing.
I have tried this several times to no avail. I also tried locating the usbstick on the primary controller nearer the Comfort z-wave aerial but that made no difference. This morning I tried to Read From EEPROM and got the same error; The EEPROM data is invalid - please perform a Learn Z-Wave Network operation. I tried a Learn again but still to no avail.
I now am in the position that I can't read or write from/to the EEPROM and neither can I Learn from the z-wave network. I have done a reset on the Comfort and restrted the PC running HomeSeer.
I'm not sure what to try next so all suggestions gratefully received.
Cheers,
Ian

Can you power off the UCM/Zwave, then power on and try again?

I've been out a couple of days, so today was the first opportunity to get back to this. I removed the cable to the UCM and left for a short while and then reconnected.
This time HomeSeer recognises Comfort and 'sends' the data, that is recorded in the log. Comfort however just sits with 'Waiting for response from Z-Wave'.

I managed to read from the EEPROM. The information is icorrect so I tried a Learn again. I'm now back the data is invalid.
Any more suggestions?

During the "Learn" operation, the UCM/Zwave reads the Zwave nodes fron the Primary Controller, and then it attempts to communicate with each of the nodes in turn.
After this is completed, it starts Comfigurator Read from EEPROM.
If there are many nodes this can take a long time, especially if there are many nodes and some of them are on stand by for power saving and do not reply to a poll - in this case there is a time out before polling the next node.- How many nodes are there in your system?
- Make sure all of them are turned on
- when leaning, wait for a long time, do not abort as this will lead to invalid data. let the process continue until all nodes are read

I have 64 nodes in total. 2 are controllers, Homeseer as primary and Comfort as secondary.
Out of the remaining 62, 18 are virtual nodes created in Comfort.
Today I did a Learn again. It seemed to work but I still have some nodes that are virtual but showing as basic. I decided to try a Learn again. Homeseer recognised the Comfort controller but Comfort has now been sat 'Waiting for response for 5 hours! I suspect that is longer than it should take.

I cancelled the Learning after over 5 hours.
I exited Comfigurator and re-started it. When I tried to login I got a couldn't connect to UCM message. I access Comfort via ethernet. UCM 1 is ethernet, UCM 2 is z-wave.
I figured there must be a problem getting power to the UCMs so replaced the cable from the main board to UCM 1. UCM 2 is looped from UCM 1.
Once I had installed the new cable I decided to try a Learn. It worked - I thought I had solved the problem!
However - I checked the z-wave mapping and noticed one node that should be virtual but is showing as basic.
I decided to do another Learn but got stuck at Waiting for response again.
No idea which way to turn next.

When a node appears as Basic, it means the UCM/Zwave was not able to get a reply from it, hence it defaulted to basic.Check that the node is turned on during the learn so that it can reply
This is the problem with large numbers of nodes, as the routing may not be so good
If there is no reply over a long time it could be because many nodes did not reply

I think it may still be a marginal power supply problem. as the learning may draw a lot of crrent
Can you connect the UCM/Zwave direct from Comfort using the 12V/COM terminal blocks and not the white cable. Do not loop the UCM1 from UCM2 either

Still no success.
The nodes that have changed to basic were virtual nodes created by Comfort.
Today I rewired UCM 2 using the terminal blocks, removing the white cable.
It's still the same, hanging on 'learning'.
Any more ideas?

Is it always the same Virtual Node that becomes basic?
If so, can you exclude that node and add it again.
Open the Monitor IO window and let us have the content while you do a learn whether succeed or not
Can ypou also send your cclx file to support@cytech.biz

Are you using a new board with a 15VDC supply or the old 14VAC?
Hopefully you have not managed to mix the incorrect power supply with the board!

Nope - all 12v. Combine that with it used to work! However - all suggestions welcome until I get to the bottom of the problem.

Hi Ian
Can I ask what hardware you setup as VN? and did you use HS to associate the VN with the hardware?
My Z-Wave network is 20+ items and apart from delays in the z-wave network it is solid.
I have used a fibaro door sensor v1 in the past with a VM and once I had made the association it work without issue. I will try to get a VN working in my network over the next few days to see if I have any problems.
Best Wishes
Lee

The virtual nodes were created between Comfort and Homeseer.
My z-wave network was solid until recently and the only issues are with the replication in Comfort.
When you say VM do you mean VN?

I can link inputs in Comfort to virtual nodes. I can then set off events in HomeSeer when the virtual node is activated.
