Hi,

I'm trying to  clarify if which version of Comfort the Z-Wave UCM will be compatible with.

I have a Comfort 1 Ultra and just wanted to be sure I do not have to upgrade it before I consider purchasing the Z-Wave UCM.

Thanks

Hi Chiu,

Thanks for the chat on the phone earlier.

As discussed, I think you could be potentially limiting your audience and sales if this UCM were restricted only to the Comfort II.

I'd be grateful if you could confirm the compatibility of this UCM with Comfort I.

Many Thanks!

Comfort II firmware 5.121 is the version which is declared to be able to support the UCM/Zwave. With Comfort II the flash firmware can be field-upgraded so the actual version you have is not an issue see http://www.comfortforums.com/forum4/849.html

Comfort I has not been tested to work with UCM/Zwave. However we will do a test and advise accordingly.  The problem with Comfort I is that the manufacturer of the microcontroller Toshiba has discontinued the device that we are using (U1) so upgrade opportunities are limited.

I would encourage you and others to upgrade to Comfort II via a change in PCB. The upgrade price should be quite attractive and it will be reasonably future-proof due to the firmware upgrade capability

Hi again,

I spoke to Chiu earlier this morning using your support service (Chiu - Thanks for your help with my 'Line Cut' problem!)

I understand now that the Z-Wave UCM will be compatible with Comfort 1.

Could you please confirm this in these forums... I just want to show this to my installer before he trys to tell me that I need an addtional upgrade to use the UCM!

FYI... My Comfort version is 4.230. Chiu mentioned I may need to upgrade my UC1 and UC2 but had to confirm about this.

Again, any further information would be much appreciated.

Thanks.

Please note that there is a new version of UCM/Zwave, see announcement in this forum. We can arrange for  your old model to be updated, please send a PM

Also please note the new Comfort I to II upgrade packages see http://www.comfortforums.com/forum25/1403.html
It is worthwhile to upgrade to Comfort II to take advantage of better performance, features and better support
