I have finally received my new UCM with the A7608 module from Laser so that I can use VoLTE to try and improve my chances of dialing in to Comfort.
I removed my existing UCM/GSM4(3G) entirely (not just the daughterboard) and installed the new UCM with new A7608 module and gave it the same ID number 2 as the old board.
After powering everything up it seems to work at a basic level as I can dial the SIM card and Comfort answers and I can now actually sign-in (well, it worked on second try whereas with the old module I could rarely sign in). I can also do the (?) text and get a sensible reply.
However, all of my custom SMS control config is not yet there – I assume I need to reload it via Comfigurator but I don’t want to do it incorrectly and wondered if you can advise?
I opened my existing config and logged in – I noticed Comfigurator now says my signal is “Strong”, which is good, and I can see all my old config, but can I just do Write to EEPROM, or do I need to make any changes first? I’m assuming it is using cached information about UCM02 as it says the type is GSM4, version is 7.141 and latest version is 7.240, processor is N.A, and GSM Module type is 5320-3G, which must be the old once - hence why I don't just want to risk corrupting things by trying a Write to EEPROM.
Comfigurator seemed to do a scan automatically as it popped up an error box saying the module scan had timed-out. I tried another scan manually and it gave the same error.
Because this is a different type of UCM do I have to delete it and then re-scan to find the new one? If so, will I lose all of my existing config of Customised Messages and Control menus?
By the way, I see a new forum page has appeared since I placed my order in December -
https://www.comfortforums.com/view_topic.php?id=5593&forum_id=48
On that page it refers to the new UCM as the UCMA/4G7608 – is that the same as the A7608 one I’ve just purchased? That page also mentions needing firmware 7.245 – is that the UCM firmware? I assume with it being new it will have compatible firmware already?
Anyway, if you can advise on the best steps for what I should do now the replacement hardware is installed that would be great. My main Comfort controller firmware is 7.175 (if that matters).
Thanks

Keep a copy of your old cclx file with the customised messages. when you scan for modules the new GSM A7608 will be detected, I am not sure if you will see the old customised messageYou do not have to delete the old GSM, as the scan will detect the gsm at the same RS485 ID. The GSM Module Type 4 means that the GSM is A7608 (we have not converted to a correct name yet)

The revised manuals can be downloaded here http://www.cytech.biz/product_details.php?item_id=573
Make sure you upgrade to the latest firmware for the GSM ( I believe it should be 8+) as there are a few issues regarding handling of the GSM Module.
You also have to upgrade your standard programming UCM to the latest version in order to upgrade with the new GSM ARM firmware
There should be 2 antennas supplied to ensure that the reception is betterLast edited on Thursday Jan 16th, 2025 01:39 am by slychiu

Ok, the module scans timed out yesterday and both UCMs (my ETH03 and the new GSM one) both said "Not scanned".
However, I've tried again this morning (after exiting and re-starting Comfigurator) and they now say "polled" and I can see some newer details of the module - it says it has firmware 7.245 (although it claims the latest is an older 7.240 ) and the GSM Module type has changed to "4" and the new time update flags have appeared.
So, I'll first upgrading the main Comfort firmware and then the UCM/ETH03 firmware too (as I use that UCM for programming) and then I'll do another scan and then "Write to EEPROM" of my existing config - I assume that's what you meant when you said to keep my existing CCLX file.

Just for the record, that all seemed to work and my UCM GSM config was uploaded okay. It highlighted a few other new things that I need to look into so I might ask queries on other forums...
I also noticed the old 7.240 firmware being offered disappeared and it now says 7.245 is the latest. I presume you must have changed that
