The UCM/4G is the replacement for UCM/GSM4 which supports 4G or LTE Networks. It has been renamed UCM/4G to avoid confusion woith the UCM/GSM4 which supports 3G. The same firmware GSM 7.164 and above supports 3G and 4G. Note that the UCM/4G does NOT support VoLTE (Voice Over LTE), and it uses the 3G network to make Voice Calls.

The features supported by the UCM/4G are;
  • DTMF Key Detected messages by UCM/4G. This means better DTMF detection by the GSM Module itself compared to Comfort's DTMF detection
  •  Real Time Clock update by Internet Time Server (SNTP service). see http://www.comfortforums.com/forum48/5423.html
  • Dual Antennas on the GSM submodule allow better reception
  • Send SMS or Voice calls to Mobile Phones for any alarm
  • Dial to Central Monitoring Stations when alarms occur
  • Receive SMS from authorised phones to control Security and appliances
  • Allow Phone calls from phones to access the Comfort Voice Menu

UCM/GSM4 with 3G is no longer available. UCM/4G is backwards compatible with 3G and 2G networks.

For instructions on using 4G and 5G  SIM Cards please see this topic http://www.comfortforums.com/view_topic.php?id=5455&forum_id=48

The installation and programming manuals can be downloaded from http://www.cytech.biz/ucmgsm_manual.html

The minimum firmware for UCM/4G is GSM 7.164.

After Scanning for Modules (Right Click on any module in the Modules Tab), the UCM/4G should be discovered and shown on the left pane.

The right pane shows the properties.
  • ID is the UCM/GSM ID
  • Type is GSM4
  • The Version field shows the current UCM/4G firmware
  • The Latest Version field shows the current released firmware.  If you are connected to the Internet. Right click on UCM/GSM in the left pane and select “Check for Updates” to upgrade to the latest firmware. Minimum firmwar for UCM/4G is GSM 7.164
  • Select English =Yes, or No for Non-english languages
  • SMS Alphanumeric ID is the text that is displayed in an SMS sent by the UCM/4G to identify the location of the Comfort alarm.
  • GSM Module Type identifies the GSM Module hardware; eg SIM7600 (4G/LTE) 800 (2G), 900 (2G), 5320 (3G) This helps to identify which model of UCM/GSM is installed
  • Time Update from GSM: if set to 1, it means the Comfort time will be updated from the Internet Time server, just like a mobile phone.
  • Time Zone: this is the offset time in hours from GMT. eg 8 means the system isd at GMT +8

Refer to http://www.comfortforums.com/forum48/3647.html for features of the older UCM/GSM4 module, which are still applicable to UCM/4G

SMS messages can include, Alarms, Arm, Disarm, Bypass with Zone names and User names, as shown below

The  new UCM/4G Module  has the following featuresns;
  1. Send "?" or any invalid text to the UCM/4G  will cause a Help message to be returned by SMS. The Help messages will include commands to query, arm and disarm the security system, as well as commands for the Control Menu to query and control devices
  2. When UCM/4G sends SMS messages to programmed phones, the alarm names, Zone Names, and User names can have up to 32 characters. The SMS alarm messages will be preceded with a Time Stamp so it can be seen when the SMS is sent - this is useful because of possible delays to SMS caused by the GSM network.
  3. User Names can be sent in SMS messages eg when the system is armed and disarmed instead of User Numbers
  4. Each of the max 8 programmed phones can be individually authorised to Arm, Disarm, and Control Comfort.
  5. 2 Phone numbers can be programmed to send SMS in case te UCM/GSM loses communications with Comfort (in addition to the 8 numbers)
  6. Non-english alphabets are supported
  7. Long text messages more than 160 characters Concatenated into a single message.
