Hi

When I reset comfort the Keypad says UCM2 (my GSM card) and the Off LED starts flashing Green after a few seconds.  If I then logon the error clears (Off LED goes solid green).

The event log says:

06/13 16:57 Sign in - User # 1
06/13 16:57 Date/Time Change 17
06/13 16:58 Reset 65
06/13 16:58 SMS Restore ID # UCM 2

What am I doing wrong?

Julian

Nothing wrong
The GSM takes a few seconds to get conneted to the network and during that time, it is reported as SMS trouble. It clears up when the GSM network is found

This will happen if you lose the network so that is can be seen in the event log

So if I hard reset Comfort and I get the error condition you say it'll clear itself?  My experience so far is that it remains in this state until I log in to the keypad with a valid user code for the first time.

When a trouble condition is restored in Comfort, it is always shown on the keypad until the user signs in to acknowledge. We dont want a condition to hapen and restire without the user knowing of it

I've had my GSM running for a few days now, but this morning (yes, Saturday morning, VERY EARLY, the one day in the year the kids decide to sleep in) the whole house was woken with very loud beeping. The keypads read the UCM number for the GSM and when I logged in I got SMS restore.

Unfortunately this continued to happen repeatedly for an hour before I gave up and disabled the GSM.

I'm guessing this intermittent alarm is because the GSM is loosing signal?

The GSM unit is located in the basement, but using the signal led tester it showed a good signal (3 out of 4 LED's).

Is there a solution to this? I don't mind the event log getting a record of signal failure, and even a message and flashing light on the keypad, but the loud loud loud beeping on a Saturday morning because there is a low gsm signal is a little much. A difficult call I know as I guess this loud beeping is a communications failure alert.

I had toyed with making the GSM ID 1 in the hope that no communication failure would be reported just for a loss of signal?

Any thoughts and solutions would be appreciated.

Thanks

Bryan

The SMS Trouble alarm is due to loss of network which may occur quite frequently depending on your location This is usuallly temporary
To disable this, go to Security Types > Nondetector  Alarms 22, SMS Trouble and set that to null

You should not set the ID as 1. Loss of network signal of the GSM is not the same as loss of communications between Comfort and UCM

does loss of signal generate an alert too or just get ignored?

Any idea's how to trouble shoot this issue?

All ucm's are fitted within the main comfort panel. The gsm has been running for a day or two without issue I can text it, it can text me, then this morning it goes nuts.

I've just re enabled it now and so far so good (10 minutes). Just not sure what to check next.

If you have set the SMSTrouble Nondetector alarm to null, then the loss of signal should not cause any alerts. It wil be reported in the event log

The loss of signal normally is only for a few seconds so it should not affect the performance., Perhaps the detection of signal loss is too sensitive

new message 17

also I thought that the GSM line wouldn't have an answer machine?

If I dial the gsm number I get the answer machine and it answers as normal and reads out the user names as they are recorded. I leave a message for the first user. Comfort then phones this user back, but instead of saying "new message for Bryan" it says "new message for 17". When I log in it then says "communication failure 17" then goes on to play the message.

I'm running the latest firmware. Is this the issue?

Chiu,

I had a look on my system and I cannot find a SMSTrouble type. On mine it says Not Used so I assume it's something that was introduced after I created my cclx file. My file came from way back V2 and migrated all the way up to the latest today.

When I create a new file from the template then the SMSTrouble and all associated references are there. Is there an easy way to import these entries or do I have to do it manually? The import function doesn't cover this section of the configuration.

I also tried calling my GSM number and who picks up the phone??? My answering machine. Is this a new feature that was sneaked in along the way...

Ingo

It is in Comfigurator >  Security Types > Nondetector  Alarms 22, SMS Trouble

You will need to edit the text manually if you need to. The label may be "Not Used" but it will have the same function

The GSM now does answer with the greeting message. The feedback was that hearing "Please sign in" lets people know that a sign in code will access the system, whereas the greeting message gives the impression that it is just an answering machine

Ok, SMSTrouble set to blank seems to have done the trick. I tried killing the gsm signal and there were no alerts generated.

As for the answer machine, I think the way it is is correct. I'm happy to get the answer machine as you're right.
