Hi

My main telephone line is connected to Comfort and then distributed to the rest of the house, well that how it was for the last 10 years.

On average I buy a new phone every year or swop an old rested phone (phone that has been lying around for a few months) as and when the phone becomes faulty. Further to this my wife complains that the phone ringing cycle is too short even thou I set it to 10.

When a call is not taken on time the caller complains that when they try to call back, the phone is engaged.

Adding to issues, the incoming voice call volume is too low.

Today I bypassed Comfort under duress. The line is clearer and gives my wife enough time to get to the phone.

Question.

How can I get Comfort to bypass the telephone (in/out) when we are home and only activate the telephone in/out on Away Mode so that I can get comms to my system via telephone ?

Thanks

You can set the number of rings to answer in Security off to 99 rings so that it will never answer and your wife can always answer
Comfort 2 is faster to drop the line when the line is busy than Comfort 1

The number if rings in Away mode can be shorter (default 3 rings)

Comfort should not affect the voice quality by passing through TEL IN and TEL OUT as there is no circuit to affect it. any degradation may be due to the wiring or corrosion of the connections

If you want to bypass comfort in security off you need to connect a relay and activate it by Comfort, but in effect Comfort has an internal relay that passes  TEL IN to TEL OUT so that is why there should be no degradation, unless your phone line  has been hit by lightning and may have damaged the components

if your system has been around for 10 years it may be time to change to Comfort 2

Hi

Thanks for your reply. I am using Comfort Ultra II.

Can you tell me more about the circuit that I would/might need ?

Would it be on the TEl IN only or both ? Does comfort use the Tel Out to dial out ?

Thanks

a 2 pole relay which connects both wires of TEL IN to TEL out operated by 12V if you really want to do it.

TEL IN is conected to the telephonbe line
TEL OUT is connected to the telephones. System dials out using TEL OUT
