I have a major problem, I obtained the MPU01 and connected it to the comfort system, but was unable to do the upgrade.  I cant remeber the exact error message sorry.  So I disconnected the MPu01 from the UCM, and just tried to use the system without upgrading.  But that did not work.  the keypad did not recognise any input. but worse than than I could not send any information to the system via the UCM (s).

I subsquently removed the MPU01, and the system them seemed to respond, with the exception that I can still not update the system via the UCM\Ethernet.  I obtain the error message " File system 34 is not compatible with. Please select file system 0."

When I look at the system information there does not seem to be any.  The version is 0, the files system is 0, evrything is 0.

Anyone had a similar problem and what did you do to correct it.

When you plug in the MPU the shunt J14 shunt must be removed

When the MPU is not plugged in, the J14 must be inserted

Do a reset after completion of removing or plugging in MPU and changing the shunts

This has not resolved the issue.  I have a situation in which the UCM/Ethernet is not responding, as such it is not possible to upgrade the system.  Also the system seems to have become unpredictable, and unresponsive.  Any help in trying to resolve this concern will be greatly appreciated, as I have had to disconnect the alarm system.  Any help will be greatly appreciated.

Hi,

In order to help, we need to know more about the current status of the system.

Is the keypad working now? Can it sign-in, hear the voice menu, etc?

What are the D1 & D2 LEDs status on the mainboard? Flashing, steady on?

What are the LEDs status on UCM/Ethernet board?

What is the Comfigurator version you are using?

Hi the system board used to show System 34.  Now it is showing 0.00.  the Keypad is working, but not correctly.  I have had to turn the alarm off as although I enter the password the system does not recognise it, so ultimately the alarm goes off.  The voice menu seems correct. D1 is Red stedy.  D2 is Off.  On the UCM/Ethernet board, D101 - D104 are flashing intermitedly.  D1 is green, D3 constant Red, and D2 and D4 flashing red.

I am using version 3.1.9 on the comfigurator.  Any help will be greatly appreciated as I am pulling my hair out.

Red D1 LED steady ON while green D2 LED off means the system is in armed state.

The LEDs status on UCM/Ethernet suggests that it is not working properly.
Power off the system.
Try disconnecting all modules from the main controller board except UCM/Ethernet.
Power on again.
The correct LEDs status on UCM/Ethernet should be as follow:
  • The green D1 RDY LED on the UCM should turn on steady.
  • The D9 (red) and D10 (green) LEDs should be flashing continuosly.
  • On the Ethernet module, D103 (green) and D104 (red) should flash 3 times initially. After that, D103 (green) will blink twice every few seconds and D102 (green) should be on.
  • The rest of the LEDs should be off.
Let us know if the above match your case.

Having followed your instructions the following was observed.

  • On the Keypad a bleeping can be heard and the message "Communication Error" is displayed
  • On the Ethernet module, D101 is off, D102 blinks continuously, D103 blinks twice every 5 seconds, and D104 blinks once 3 times every 10 seconds.
  • D1 is green constant, D3, is red constant,  and D2 and D4 blink once evry 10 seconds
Regards

"Communications Failure " message on the LCD should be followed by the name of the module eg UCM #2 which has the communicationbs failure

To recap the situation, you have a Comfort II 5.054, a KP04 and an old UCM01 purchased 5 years ago which have been working fine. You bought a new UCM/Ethernet and an MPU01 to upgrade your Comfort to the latest firmware. This MPU was plugged in on the Comfort PCB with J14 shunt removed and the Comfort is now working correctly with the latest firmware 5.199

The problem is getting the UCM/Ethernet 5.202 to communicate. It did comunicate in the beginning when you bought it but after an attempted upgrading operation it was unable to connect to Comfort.
The UCM/Ethernet is connected as UCM#2 and the old UCM01 is connected as UCM#1
The ID shunts have been set accordingly on the 2 UCMs
On the UCM Ethernet, SW8-F is shunted as required

The UCM/Ethernet has Busy 2 steady on after reset. The message Cannot write to UCM was seen by Comfigurator. It appears that there is a problem with this UCM

You say that you have removed UCM#1 and conected UCM#2 (ethernet) direct to Comfort. Did you disconnect UCM#2 in the process? If so Comfort will report Communications Failure UCM 2" on the keypad. When you reconnect the UCM #2 and sign in on the keypad, the LCD will show "Communications Failure Restore"  so there is no problem there.
Comfort does not report a Commmunications Failure with UCM #1 as this slot is meant to be for the programming UCM which can be disconnected after use

Check if the Communications failure is restored after connection and signing in on the keypad.
Also please note that D9 and D10 on the UCM should be both blinking indicating that it is connected and communicating

This is an update on the problem for the record.
On the UCM/Ethernet, the BUSY 2 LED remained on after reset which indicates a wrong indication. Busy 2 LED is caused by one of the UPLOAD or DOWNLOAD buttons pressed. However on the UCM the buttons were not pressed. This means that there is a short on one of the inputs to the CPU corresponding with the button. thus putting the UCM inyo Upload or download mode. This caused the UCM to be busy, and so the Comfigurator Write and Read operations would not work.

The UCM was replaced and the problem was thus resolved
After investigation it was found that an outgoing check for this fault was missed out, and the procedures were updated to prevent this from occuring again
