Recently I installed an Comfort Ultra II, connected to :

3 keypads,
1 doorstation,
1 x Slave Expander (old type),
1 x local expander (connected to the slave, because it is old type)

1 x C-Bus interface (interfaced to C-Bus, of course)
0 x Ringer module

The telephone line is a normal analogue telephone line, and was hooked up to the panel.
Initially it all went great, the panel would answer from phone-in and from local phone.
A few days passed, when I returned to site there was a problem:
whenever I press * on the local phone, you could hear the relay clicking in, but only holding for a second before connecting the local phone to the outside line again.
Suspecting a faulty panel, I replaced the panel and the new panel was functioning perfectly, at least for a few days.
Two days later the panel had exactly the same problem as his predecessor.

The area is a new development and I suspect that the phone lines might be damaging the panel, maybe only a spike at night or something.
Anyone know how I can test this, or had a similiar problem?

Sometimes this could be caused by lighting around the area damaging the telephone circuit. Does this happen?
You can try reversing the polarity of the telephone line on TEL IN, this may work if one side of the circuit is damaged
Comfort II telephone line protection has been significantly improved over Comfot I so I am a bit surprised if this happens. Have you sent the first board back to us? You  should also consider putting in additonal telephone surge arrestors

Thanks Chiu.

There is almost no lightning in the area, and I have switched the ring-tip connections with no luck.  However, telephone surge arrestors might just be the answer.  The board has been sent back through the Clipsal channels as we bought it as "MinderPro".

Cheers mate.

Has this problem been resolved? I am having a similar problem i.e. when pressing the star on the local phone you can hear the ringer module relay click in only to release the line a second or so later. It goes back to the local phone dial tone.

The same thing happens if someone presses the front door station i.e. I am supposed to be able to pick up the local phone and speak to the person at the door but it again does the same as above.

Anyone come across this too? Using a Comfort II Ultra.

Can you try reversing the TEL IN wires?
If that does not work one of the optocouplers may be faulty and the board will be replaced. Please contact your suppplier

Thanks for the prompt response.

I suspected as much. I will contact the installers and inform them of your suggestion.

Many thanks

If you comfort PCB looks like the attached picture with 2 black relays on the right (instead of 2 orange coloured relays) and you are not able to sign in on the local phone, or cannot answer the door Station ring  then you will need a  change in the Comfort board (right half). There is a batch problem with some of the Comforts of that type. Please contact your Comfort supplier
