The WizComfort Keypad screen allow you to use the computer as a keypad. If you use the UCM/Audio to connect to Comfort, the voice menu can be heard and you can also record and hear mesages just like a real keypad

I'm not sure which is the best thread to ask - but after a short time the 'ready' message at the bottom of the Wizcomfort screen changes from a green background to a red background. What does that mean?

Hi Ian,

When does that happen? Are you still able to control via WizComfort after it changes from Green to Red? I don't recall seeing such a case happening.

Regards

Just playing this morning - the message says OK rather then Ready. The background changed to red after a couple of minutes but I can still control OK.

From what I see from your screenshot, it would appear that your connection has timed out.

I guess you are connecting to Comfort via a UCM/Ethernet module. Note that there is a setting in DS Manager called "Connection Timeout". This setting determines the duration, which upon no activity, will disconnect the session.

To overcome this issue, change the "Connection Timeout" to 0. This will mean that the connection will not disconnect by itself.

Those errors are not critical as the commands were included after WizComfort was released. They are in reference to the speaker and microphone command, and the keypad LED indicator. You may wish to refer to the Comfort Serial Set for more information.

They do not explain why the system is unable to arm. Do you get an arm failure or nothing happens?

Are you able to use the physical keypad to arm the system? Could it be that the function of that keypad button is changed?

Would it be that you got logged out due to the connection time-out setting for the UCM/Ethernet?

Yes, I can use physical keypad to arm the system.

I have changed the connection timeout to 0 before.

I would suggest you enable the Comfort Monitor and copy out the strings sent upon trying to arm the system. This would provide us with a better understanding of what is happening during that time.

Or could it be that your keypad button has "Need Code" checked in your ccl file? If so, you will be required to enter your code on the keypad after the button press. The sign-in box in WizComfort after pressing the button on WizComfort is for WizComfort's own check and not Comfort's check.

I found that Wizcomfort turned to "waiting for mode change ..." after sometimes, and it took a few minutes, and during that time, press any button on Wizcomfort keypad, the comfort system didn't response.  Why?

And in some cases, the error message at Wizcomfort showed "no respond from the controller to cmd: ...".  For this problem, I have to logout and login and logout and login ... for many times, then it can connect to comfort system again.  Why?

Seems like to me a problem of your connection. The command isn't being able to be sent to Comfort as a result. So WizComfort is awaiting an acknowledgement which isn't forthcoming.

Could you please le me know how can I troubleshoot the connection problem?  For your information, I have tested using ping to the UCM/Ethernet, it is very good and it has no timeout error.

I'm also using comfigurator to connect with Comfort System, it has no problem at all.  I can download/upload using comfigurator without any problem.

Are you using the same UCM/Ethernet to upload/download or a separate one?
Do you have more than 1 UCM in the system?

Most important, what is your Comfort  and UCM firmware versions?
