Hi I'm doing some work on remote control of my heating. What is the preferred method by action codes or responses for generating long timer intervals eg 2 hours. I want to be able to turn on an output for this duration. Is there a downside to running a timer for 7200 seconds?

You can use a timer for up to 63335 seconds which is..... quite a long time as my calculator is not handy

The following Response should work for you as an example

Output Output01 On
Do Output01Off After 7200 Seconds Using Timer01

This turns on an output for 2 hours and turns it off

This does not prevent other things from happening during the two hours so there should be no downside
If you need to stop the timer for any reason the Stop Timer Response is available. This stops the timer and prevents the target response from being activated, ie your output remains on

May I know how can I set a response to be able to say time every minute within 30 minutes?  I just want to press a scene button of RC01 at anytime, the keypad will start say time until 30 minutes later.  Thank you.

Response X
do Response Z after 1800 seconds (30 minutes) using Timer 1
Do Response Y after 60 seconds using Timer 2

Response Y
Say Time
Do Response Y after 60 seconds using Timer 2

Response Z
Stop Timer 2

Response X should be assigned to the IR received Response for thee RC01 button

Thank you.  But I found that the delay of 1803 seconds can only work instead of 1800 seconds.

There should not be anything wrong with a delay of 1803 seconds (30 minutes and 3 seconds) compared to 1800 seconds (30 minutes and 0 seconds)
This is the delay which stops the announcement of date and time
You probably have made some other mistake with the 1800 number
