Although im not a fan of wifi for numerous reasons, is this wifi module just to connect the Comfort to the internet like the etho or will it be used to expand comfort itself for example some kind of 2nd wifi module connected to a RIO to do away with some cabling?

Hi, the post/announcement on UCM wi-fi says it can be installed on CM9001 or UCM06. I just wanted to confirm that it can be installed on a UCM06 connected to a CP9000 Controller?
I have CP9000 (Comfort II Ultra) with UCM/ETH02 and am thinking of just swapping the wi-fi module for the ETH02 daughterboard. Will this give me all the functionality I need such as connection to Comfigurator, access to iPhone App etc.?

Yes it can be plugged in to UCM06. Make sure it is UCM06 and not UCM05 (older model).
The UCM firmware wil have to be upgraded to the latest v7.
