FAQ

What does this do?

Please read the 'What's this all about' topic in the forum.

What do I need?

Please read the 'Requirements - community edition' topic in the forum.

How do I get it up and running?

Please read the 'Getting Started Guide - community edition' topic in the forum.

I can arm the alarm via SmartThings, but I can't disarm it, what's going on?

SmartThings can arm the alarm via the UHAI without a pin, but requires one to disarm it. You can enter an alarm code using the settings cog found in the Comfort Alarm device details page within the SmartThings app.

How do I trigger a response from SmartThings?

For any given response (or pair of complementary responses) a virtual switch needs to be created in SmartThings in order to trigger it. Clicking 'Add Response Device' from within the Comfort Bridge device details page within the SmartThings app will create a new virtual device called 'ComfortAlarm Response'. You may assign the appropriate response codes and a new name from with the details page for this device.

All my devices have stopped responding in SmartThings, whats going on?

Occasionally, and usually as a result of a restart of the UHAI service or SmartThings, the subscription link between them may expire - normal operations will correct this but occasionally SmartThings needs a gentle nudge.

You can force a re-subscription by using the Refresh button from within the Comfort Bridge device. This should force all devices to resynchronise.

In the event they do resynchronise, but events are still not being represented, it is likely that the UHAI is unable to communicate with the alarm. From the web gui, please check the IP address, Port and user code is correct and no other device is connected to the Comfort system via that interface.

What's included in the telemetry data, and why do you need it?

The telemetry data is a very light data feed which reports the status of the UPNP process (when it starts, when it stops, and whether it can communicate with the alarm) and very high level usage data on the web interface (actions which the user takes, such as start and stop the alarm, upload configuration data etc)

These events do not contain any PII, which is only collected if you share you configuration data, register or send diagnostics.

What's the benefit of registration?

Currently we use the registration data to help associate your telemetry data with any issues you report. We are planning on introducing an automated alarm system which will email you if the system appears to lose connectivity or otherwise error. We will also use this registration data to alert you of any upgrade which may become available.

None of these items answer my question, how can I get help?

If you have a general question about this interface, please create a topic on this forum.

If you have a specific issue with your installation, stuff isn't working as you expected or you have found an issue, please send an email to:
