Good evening,
During testing today I found that a vertical component/s mounted vertically on the ETH02 card (that attaches to the UCM) gets extremely HOT.

This doesnt seem normal? Should I be returning the ETH02 and UCM? I can however connect to the UCM --> and Comfort PCB. The link between the PCB and UCM doesnt work on JP2. AS soon as this is switched to JP2A it shows up on DS Manager without an issue.

Your comments and assistance would really be appreciated.

Regards
Ronnie

If it helps mine gets pretty hot too but I think this is normal operation though I agree it's a bit alarming when you first discover.

Thanks for the quick reply! It does seem a tad odd. Not very comfortable with the heat seen that we would want to leave the ETH02 connected permanently.

It would be great if the manufacturer can pick up on this. I was considering to at least disperse the heat slightly with a heatsink/fan but the cap in front of the component makes this difficult. I dont like workarounds though - especially considering the cost of these devices :)

The component is the EM500 which is the main serial to ethernet converter
It does get quite hot but these have been working well for several years and we have not really seen any failures

One of the advantages of the new UCM/ETH03 is the it is much cooler than the EM500 module on UCM/ETH03
