Hi
I am looking to add a UCM ETH03 to my Comfort Ultra II and have a few questions please;
I have owned Comfort II Ultra for around 10 years now and am running very old firmware v5.121.
I also have a CBUS UCM with firmware v5.134.
Can you tell me if I will have any problems updating my firmware using ETH03?
Also, I have a Cat5e cable running from my Comfort Enclosure to my Wifi Router. Will I be able to connect to Comfort via my laptop using my home wifi?
Finally, using ETH03 will I be able to connect to comfort via my android phone using the Comfort App?
Many Thanks
Dave

Apart from the Cbus side which I'm not familiar with the answers are otherwise YES for all of your questions IMHO other than will you have problems upgrading! You may have to upgrade Comfort ULT firmware the first time with the programming cable but after that it is all upgradable via Comfigurator and Ethernet connection IMHO.
I'm hesitant on the CBUS side because (a) not my area and (b) I think a replacement CBUS2 daughter card may be involved somewhere in the mix somewhere here?

We do not have record of Cbus 5.134
Prior to Cbus 5.154 (up to 5.75) the UCM/Cbus was not upgradable
From UCM/Cbus 5.154 the firmware is upgradable, so re-check what is the cbus firmware

Hi. Thanks for your replies. The C-bus UCM has a hand-written firmware number on the front so it probably is 5.154. It is a little difficult to read. I am mostly interested in the Comfort firmware upgrade however. As long as I can upgrade the v5.121 comfort firmware I would be happy.
Juwi_Uk can you explain what you mean about upgrading Comfort firmware with the cable before upgrading with comfigurator via Eth03. I have never upgraded firmware so Im not sure what you mean. How would I do that?

Hi
I follwed the link above in order to upgrade comfort firmware via the programing cable however I repeatadly get the "Failed to connect to UCM - please check UCM connection settings" message.
I completely removed the CBus UCM as i wasn't sure if it would complicate matters if the programming cable was attached to that instead of the comfort board.
I connected the cable as shown and applied the PP2 shunt to the comfort board.
The keypad beeps continuously.
After starting comfigurator I set the UCM interface to Network (local) and set the ip address. Then I try the firmware upgrade routine as written.
Is there anything else you can think of that I am doing wrong.
I have since upgraded the Eth03 firmware to 2.20 and that worked fine. This did not help however.
No transfer of data from comfort is possible.
Just to be clear I am attempting to upgrade my 5.121 comfort firmware with a brand new etho3 UCM. I have never previously been able to upgrade firmware or program comfort other then via the keypad.
Any help is much appreciated. Thanks.

When Upgrading firmware by UCM cable and after connnecting the programming cable do not attempt to log in as Comfort will not respond
Immeidtaely go to Transfer > Upgrade firmware by programming cable and gselect the cbf file
When the programming cable is connected Comfort does not function and al the keypads will beep
You do not beed to remove he Cbus UCM or keypads during this process
Also using UCM/ETH03, the first attempt may fail due to an error, but please repeat the process

Hi
I have not logged in as I read that this would cause it to fail.
Are you saying I should try and perform the upgrade through the CBus UCM and connect the programming cable to the CBus UCM instead of comfort? The Cbus UCM sits on top of comfort and so I cannot connect the cables to the Comfort board when the CBus UCM is in place.
I was worried that it may try and upgrade the Cbus UCM firmware instead of the Comfort firmware if I did this.
With the Cbus UCM removed I have made repeated attempts to upgrade (when not logged in).
Presumably the Eth03 UCM as shipped to me will have the correct and compatible firmware? Note that I have since successfully upgraded the Eth03 firmware to 2.20
Thanks

No you should not use the ucm cbus for upgrade
Can you connect to comfort through the ucm eth03 when the ucm firmware cable is disconnected?
Try to login normally without the ucm firmware programing cable

Hi
I seem to have 2 problems.
I installed brand new eth03 and got "happy" lights everywhere. Unfortunately device is non discoverable in configurator. I then tried a firmware upgrade using UCM232 (currently 7.076) to Ultra (currently 7.099) and got "DUT not connected" I thought that link was only required for older firmware versions. I have never seen it before.
I now seem to have corrupted the main firmware which is asking for a write of filesystem 34.
Help please.
John
Edit do I need to do this?

Hi Chiu
I connected without using the programming cable as you suggested. I got this "Module Scanning Requires Comfort Version >=5.154 and UCM version >=5.171. Please add modules manually by right clicking on the module type and selecting Add...
I still cannot update firmware with the cable though.
One thing I should mention however is that in 2008 you sent me a MPU plugin with new firmware on it. I beleive I somehow ended up with pre-release firmware when I bought comfort (see you email to me on 26th Jan 2008). Does this effect the situation at all?

Hi. I finally managed to upgrade firmware this afternoon. After several attempts at doing exactly the same thing it suddenly gave me "Scan modules again to update firmware info". Not sure why but it worked. This was done with my pc connected directly to the Eth03. I am now able to transfer data to the PC from Comfort. I shall now wire up to my router and attempt to connect over wifi.
Thanks.

walk10, what is the firmware of your ucm?
If it is version 5, it can only upgrade firmware usding ther UCM programing cable
If it iis UCM version 6 and abover you can upgrade its own firmware and others without using the programming cable by selecting the module in the modules tab and right clicking check for Upgrades

Hi My firmware was 5.121 but I have now upgraded to 7.113 via the programming cable.
However I straight away had a lot of problems and dont currently have a working system.
When saving the cclx file I recieved error messages about errors in responses and then error in XML document (216,108). When trying to load the cclx file the next day it was corrput and will no longer load.
The keypad now constantly announces zones (even with security off) and I see a keypad "Zone Error , Hall" message.
In comfigurator I found a lot of new zones (64 to 96) with zone type 31. The Entry Path, Restore, Virtual Input and Announce boxes were all ticked. I removed them hoping that this would help (especially with the zone announcing) but it did not. I also get a lot of error messages in pop up boxes which are very long. I have attached one here.
Apologies for my lack of experience in describing the situation but is there anything you can suggest. Do I have a corrpted system for example?

Do the keypads work in accessing the system? if so then you have a working system
Perhaps the cclx file is corrupred
Can you open a new file, selecyt the IP adress and log in to do a module scan?
Do a Read from Comfort and check that everything is as it should be

My original clx file has become corrupted (straight after I did the firmware upgrade over the programming cable). I then did a read from comfort and saved a new one which had all those extra zones, response errors etc. Ive tried cleaning this up but I still have problems such as the constant zone call out on the keypad and zone error. Also if I reset the system it seems to instantly try and go into Night Mode and complains of the Zone error.

The system always arms to the same mode when you reset it. so disarm it before resetting it
There may be some other errors in the cclx file

Hi
After resetting Comfort it imediattely arms to night mode (and emmits an unfamiliar beeping sequence from the keypad). Even if I turn security off after resetting comfort it will always try and arm to night mode again. Also it randomly arms to night mode on its own. Zone announcements are constantly made from the keypad and i am unable to stop this (even in security off mode).
When signing in keypad often announces Night mode even when security is off.
Occasionally when signing in comfort announces Zone Trouble - Response -Then goes to Night mode.
I am also unable to upgrade keypad firmware. Keypad firmware is listed as unknown in comfigurator.
I cant see anything imediately obvious in the cclx file or when i read from comfort. Can you suggest anything. Is there a factory reset I can do? Thanks.
